Speaking of "King", what exactly does "King" itself mean? The king according to KBBI (Great Dictionary of Indonesian) is the supreme ruler of a kingdom, so many of us hear of king figures scattered throughout the world both with a large and small scope of royal territory, both those that have been recorded in history and kingdoms that still exist today, the rank of 'king' is a blessing but also a test of Allah ﷻ depending on how he uses his power that not just anyone can do.
To get it, Islam has given 4 examples of figures who get the title of 'king of the rulers of the world' both from the believers (believers) and from the disbelievers (infidels) whose power even covers from the eastern end to the western end of the earth according to the famous proposition of Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma, marfu' (prophet ﷺ), ‘The King of the earth has 4, two believers and two infidels. For the two reigning kings, Dzulqarnain and Sulaiman. Two unbelievers were Namrudz and Bukhtanshar. And the earth will be ruled by someone from my temple.’ (Mentioned ibnul Jauzi in al-Muntadzam fi at-Tarikh)
Prophet Sulaiman and Dhulqarnain ( 2 Mu’min King’s )
First, King Sulaiman bin Daud alaihimas salau was greeting him a prophet as well as a king among the Bani of Israil. His name is mentioned 17 times in the Quran. He was called by Allah ﷻ the best and diligent servant, "I gave David a son, Solomon. He is the best servant and he is very obedient." (QS. Shad: 30)
Regarding the greatness of Solomon is not counted as to the number of miracles that he has, many can we find his story in the Qur'an al-Karim one of which he has an army of jinn, humans and birds, and can understand the words of ants. "And gathered for Solomon his army of jinn, man and birds, and they were arranged in an orderly manner. When they reached the valley of ants, an ant said, 'O ants, enter your dens, lth that you may not be trampled by Solomon and his army, and they do not realize.” (QS. An-Naml: 17-18)
Second, King Dhulqarnain has a very long story and is mentioned by Allah ﷻ at the end of surat al-Kahfi. His power reached the eastern and western ends of the earth. He is a just king:
"They will ask you about Dhulkarnain. Say, "I will read you the story of his challenge" Surely We have given him power on the earth, and We have given him the way of all things." (QS. al-Kahfi:
83-84)
He invited his people to convert to Islam and fight those who reject Islam. He is also the one whom Allah ﷻ gives strength to build a strong wall again sturdy to be able to prevent Ya'juj and Ma'juj from making damage on the earth that is approaching the Day of Resurrection Allah ﷻ will destroy this wall as a test for mankind. Dhulqarnain said, "This (wall) is a mercy from my Lord, so when my Lord's promise comes, he will make it destroyed; And my Lord's promise is true." [Al Kahfi/18:98]
2 The story of the Figure of the King of Believers (Prophet Sulaiman and Dhulkarnain) above can be a lesson for us How They Become Role Models and use the Authority that Allah ﷻ has given them for the good of the hereafter that is to call his People to the way of goodness.
Namrudz and Bukhtanshar ( 2 Kafir King’s )
Third, Namrudz bin Kan'an was a pagan king ruler of the entire earth from the eastern end to the west end. He claimed to be a god and asked to be worshipped. He argued with Ibrahim about god, and he lost. It is He who is told by Allah ﷻ that he has not observed him who argued with Abraham about his Lord because Allah ﷻ had given him the kingdom? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the One Who gives life and death," he said, "I am able to give life and death."
He said, "Indeed Allah produces the sun from the east, so raise it from the west," and the disbelievers fell silent. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people." (QS. al-Baqarah: 258) Fourth, King Bukhtanshar was an infidel ruler who colonized the Bani of Israel. He became one of the causes of the spread of Jews in various regions (especially in the city of Medina) according to a narration from Abu Hurayrah radhiyallahu 'anhu "That when Bukhtanshar came to power, and slaughtered Jews, many among the Jews spread to various regions. They found Muhammad already stated in their book, and he will appear in one of the regions of Arabia, whose territory has many date palms.
When they came out of Sham, they passed through all the areas between Sham and Yemen. They looked for a city whose criteria were like the city of the Prophet ﷺ. Until they find him. Then some of them - the children of Harun - there were those who stopped in Yathrib. They died of faith in Muhammad ﷺ and motivated his children to follow him and trust him when he was sent. But his descendants disbelieved in him. Not even enough just to disbeliement, they also made attempts to treason and undermine the peace agreement between Muslims and Jews. The Prophet ﷺ had given them freedom not to convert to Islam and to live in Medina." (Fushul min Tarikh Madinah, page. 18)
Not only that, he also killed many Muslims among the bani of Israel. Tabiin scholar Said bin Musayib said Bukhtanshar attacked Sham, burned the temple of Maqdis, and killed them.
Then he came to Damascus and killed thousands of Muslims among the Bani of Israel. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5/48)
From the 4 Acts of the King figure above we can know that this is one of the proofs of Allah ﷻ justice that can give authority to anyone he wants from both believers and infidels.
However, all these favors including the "Favor of Authority" are good for all kings, sultans, emperors, presidents who have lived in the world, and anyone who is given the Title of Leadership will be asked for his accountability in front of Allah ﷻ for the favor in the hereafter
"Then you will certainly be questioned on that day about the enjoyment (which you magnificently in that world)" (QS. At Takatsur: 8).
Then the important question arises, are we among his grateful servants? His real proof is to use all his blessings in the way of Allah ﷻ, or vice versa? Are we among his ungrateful servants?
It is to use all the blessings that Allah ﷻ gives to the wrong way.
