Abstract : Leaming resources is one of the components in the
process of teaching and learning beside students, teachers, environments, methods, media, and others. One of the learning
resources is course book.
It
is even considered to be the most significant factor in teaching and learning process. The problems here are how to design the course booksof

High Schools, therelationships between course books and the implemented curriculum, the considerations of the course book design, and the development of the syllabus design of the course books.
The course books of Balnsa dan Sastra Indonesia is designed on
the basis of the following reasons which include (1) the material should be standard with reference to the curriculum 2A04, (Z)
there is a relevance between material and the education goals, (3) there is a scientific material verified from the language and
literature sciences, (4) there is a relevance between material and
the development of science and technology, and (5) there is
suitability between the main material and student cognitive developrrent. Beside, the designed course book should meet the
readability principles of material and language. ln addition,
it
should be designed on the basis of the syllabus development, of
