QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION
Applicant who is interested to pursue his/ her studies at UPM must fulfil the following:
To have received a National Higher School Certificate (HSC) or an A- Level or the equivalent of 12 years
of basic education with grade 80% and above.
Or
A Diploma from recognised Institutions with at least a CGPA of 3.00.
And
There are also specific entrance requirements for some courses, particularly in the sciences, so please
check the requirements for your course . More information can be found at

ENGLISH REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
If you are non-native English speaker, you must achieve one of the formal qualifications as part of the
entry requirements:
1.
IELTS -
1.
Minimum overall score of 6.0 for TESL/English programme or 5.5 for
other programmes; or
2.
TOEFL -
Minimum overall score of 550 for TESL/English or 500 for other
programmes; or
3.
Certified Intensive English
Programme (CIEP) -
Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) - enrolled at ELS-UPM -
Level 109 for TESL/English programme or Level 107 for other
programmes
Notwithstanding the above, applicants who have completed their A-Level/Foundation/International
Baccalaureate from certain countries are exempted from the English requirement. Please refer to

DISEASE
International students must ensure they are in good health to study in Malaysia. Those who have been
diagnosed with certain infectious diseases such as Hepatitis, AIDS, HIV, SARS, JE, Tuberculosis etc. are
prohibited from studying in Malaysia. We strongly advise them to have a medical examination before
applying for the admission to UPM.
VISA AND STUDENT PASS
International students must obtain a student pass to study in Malaysia. Prior to their arrival to Malaysia,
they must obtain a Visa with Reference (VDR) of which must be submitted to the Malaysian Embassy/High
Commission in their country for Single Entry Visa. The detail of the procedure will be furnished to
successful candidate in the registration guidelines.
AFFORDABLE COST OF LIVING
The cost of living for International students studying at UPM is reasonably low compared to international
standards, and can vary from RM900.00
–
RM1200.00 (USD300.00-USD400.00) a month (not inclusive
accommodation) depending on individual needs.
Note:

All fees must be paid in MYR.
2.
The above tuition fees above does not include Residential
College Fees.
3.
Tuition fee is not refundable if the student leaves his/her studies
halfway before the completion of his studies.
4.
Total fees displayed in USD are an estimate based on exchange
rate range of USD1=MYR4.20 and is subject to change due to
exchange rate fluctuation.
5.
The fee schedule is correct at the time of printing. UPM reserves
the right to revise the fees mentioned above that are deemed
necessary.
6.

There are two (2) types of on-campus accommodation available for
international students namely International Transit House and
University Residential College (for single students).
