The exhibit ion of 40 Black & Whit e Chinese ink draw ings and a lim it ed num ber of color paint ings will be held at Three Monkeys Cuisine and Ar t Café on Monkey For est Road, Ubud fr om June 14 t hr ough t he end of July 2009. Par t of t he proceeds fr om t he sale of t he paint ings w ill be used t o support developm ent of t he children's art wor k t o help t hem develop professionally , w it h t he goal of est ablishing t heir ow n

pr ofessional ar t cooper at ives. The balance w ill go int o a fund for t he young art ist s t hem selves, who ar e all enr olled in EBPP's senior high school progr am and dr eam of becom ing professional ar t ist s, t o inspire t hem t o cont inue developing t heir art skills and enable t hem t o pur chase t heir own ar t m at er ials.

Alongside t he ar t wor ks w ill be a display of vet iver grass hand cr aft ed pr oduct s t hat have been developed t hr ough t r aining wit h som e of t he w or ld's t op designers from Thailand, as w ell as designs inspired by Linda Garland, Pr esident of Ubud- based Envir onm ent al Bam boo Foundat ion. Vet iver , int roduced in 2000 t o pr event erosion in t he ar id volcanic ash landscape, has st abilized all of t he st eep dir t r oads and enabled t he children t o develop lush or ganic veget able and her b gar dens. I t is hoped t hat t he developm ent of handicraft skills w it h t he root s and t he dried gr ass will open up fur t her avenues for fut ur e econom ic developm ent .
