Upon reading the first lines of the book, it is clear the narrator holds a bitter grudge as he sends his enemy crude and discarded gifts: On the first night of Christmas I gave my enemy a briar from a tanglewood tree. On the second night of Christmas I gave my enemy two rotten eggs.
Night after night the gifts pile up shards of glass, rusty nails, gnarled twigs, and more. What the narrator s enemy decides to do with each of these odious gifts is nothing less than a Christmas miracle. The photographic creation of the rare nativity at the end of the book is both a work of art and a wonder to behold.

Author Beeson has wrote the all time best and much needed Christmas book. This is a book that everyone needs to buy for their enemy and give to them this Christmas.
This will be the one gift that your enemy will NEVER for get. And it just might change their heart as well. A book that sums up this time of year FORGIVENESS. is what it's all about.
The best gift you can give this year is the gift of forgiveness and this is the book to tell that enemy you forgive them.
This opens up a great way to have that much needed conversation with those who have done you wrong I plan to buy a copy for someone this year and I will cherish the fact that it is a gift straight from my heart. Matthew 5:43-44 is presented in such a way you will never forget it.
amazing look at the heart of man. Someone is sending their enemy objects of trash like old forks, knotted twine,dead leaves and rusty nails to just name a few. For example here is what it says from the book...
"On the seventh night of Christmas I gave my enemy seven scraps of paper. On the eighth night of Christmas I gave my enemy eight clumps of clay. "
I'm sure you get the picture. The beauty of this book is what the recipient does with all of the trash, they make a traditional Nativity creche. Then it is sent back to the person who originally sent all of the trash. The lesson of forgiveness is shown here and how like in Matthew 5:43 that we need to turn the other cheek, love our enemies as ourselves, and grant forgiveness to them. The gift sent back pointed this person to Bethlehem and the Savior Jesus Christ.
The photos that go with the words are black and white and are very unique works of art just by themselves. This book is such a great one to share with your family and remind them that Christmas is a season for giving and forgiving.
This is a Christmas book like one you've never seen before and one that you will want to have read in your home as a new Christmas tradition.

This is a most amazing picture book. The narrator sends his enemy gifts for Christmas according to the song “The 12 Days of Christmas” but the gifts are not nice at all. They are broken and discarded things, basically what we would consider garbage.
Once those gifts have been received however, the narrator’s enemy does something astonishing. He returns those same gifts, but he has done something magical with them. He has taken the broken and discarded items and transformed them into items that make up a Christmas nativity scene.
The illustrations that go with the story are real photographs of the objects that show the beauty of the transformation from pieces of junk to the beautiful nativity scene.
I thought the author and photographers showed great creativity in putting this book together. The book is indeed aptly named A Rare Nativity.
This is a book you will want to read each Christmas to remind you of what Christ has done for us. I gave this book a rating of 5 stars out of 5. I absolutely loved it! I highly recommend it to everyone for their Christmas library.
