Abstract
This research aimed to know the significant influence concept maps in teaching the
triangle material to student’s conceptual understanding. That was quasi experimental
research with two group pretest posttest design. The population in this research were 4 class of 7th grade in SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga. The sample were VIIA as experiment class and VIIC as control class. That was acuired by purposive sampling technique, considered by the same prior knowledge that obtained by homogeneity and normality test. The data collected by the test method, such as posttest treated to final test students after given treatment, then followed up with an interview to determine the conceptual understanding of a class that highest in the test results. The interview sample were 18 respondents with purposive sampling technique. T test was used to examine the differences siginificance both classes. The results showed a significant 0.001 < 0.05 and an average value 69.77 of VIIC class lower than the average value 84.0587 of VIIA class, it was concluded that there was a significant influential of the application concept maps in teaching the
triangle material to student’s conceptual understanding. Student’s conceptual understanding who was taught by concept maps better than students taught with conventional teaching. Interviews showed the diverse of students triangle concept. 83.33% of students know the right triangle definition , 88.89% of students understand of the height of triangle, 72.22% of students understand the types of triangles and 55.56% of students understand the properties of triangle. The correct answers had the highest percentage of among other answers variation, therefore that was concluded that concept
maps influential student’s conceptual understanding.
