ABSTRACT
ThisresearchwasaboutScreeningofCorn(ZeamaysL.)forAluminium (Al) Tolerance using Nutrient Solution. It has been done in Acclimatization
Room, Tissue Culture Laboratory, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of
Agriculture, Andalas University, Padang. It conducted on November until
Desember2011.Materialwasusedcorninbreedlines(SmrgM6-3,HP6,Smrg B.33.1.,SmrgB.2.5.2.,Sukmaraga99,BM22,Gg31,andGg11),1167,12µM nutrientsolution,andasaluminiumtreatmentwasAlCl3.6H2O.Thisanalysisalso
usedATI(AluminiumToleranceIndex)andRDW(RelativeDryWeight)plant.It wasanalysisisusedtoknowtolerancelevelincorninbreedlinesofAlstress.The result showed that inbreed lines have genetic variability from Al stress. The
variability of root lenght was large. Based on RDW analysis, only RRDW
(RelativeRootDryWeight)analysisandRSDW(RelativeStemDryWeight) analysisshowedmiddlevariabilities.Thus,Root/ShootRatiowasalsoshowed largevariability.AccordingtorootlengthbasedonATI(AluminiumTolerance Index)analysis,itshowed6corninbreedlinesthathavetolerancefromAlstress. BasedonRDW(RelativeDryWeight),therewasonly1lineshowedtoleranceof AlbasedonRDW(RootDryWeight)analysis.Ontheotherhand,alllineswere toleranceofAlbasedonRSDWanalysis.Therewere22,00%-47,00%decreases ofRoot/ShootRatiooflinesin20µMAlstressthan0µMstress.
