Remember Christ’s first coming by his birth, not as an infant, but now our saving Lord.

Rejoice now in Christ’s daily comings filling our hearts, minds, hopes, dreams, fears, deeds.

Await Christ’s second coming in glory to fulfill all God’s promises, triumphing over sin.

REFLECTION

This feast concludes “The Coming of Christ”.

Jesus now comes into his own, assuming his ministry and mission.

The Coming of Christ has many events: His conception in Mary’s womb,

then her encounter with her pregnant cousin Elizabeth,

His birth in a manger outside of Bethlehem with angels, shepherds and travelers from the East,

his escaping death by a hasty journey to Egypt, his home life in Nazareth, his “lost” days in Jerusalem,

His baptism with signs and wonders in the Jordan River followed by 40 starving days

in the wilderness tempted by Satan,

lastly calling fishermen at the seashore to accompany him.

In all these moments Jesus is coming persistently into our lives.

His coming is now directed at each of us that we might follow Him,

know Him and love Him.

Let us welcome Jesus at His coming.

These days encourage us to remember, rejoice and await:
