Susi Septaviana Rakhmawati 1. Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, the students will be able to:

 explain the modes of interpreting, booth behaviors and code of ethics of interpreters.

 extract terminology from different types of text, create term banks, and provide definitions and discussion of the terms,

 repeat verbatim segments of speech in the same language, and summarize spoken texts,

 answer aural comprehension texts, and repeating content of what is being heard verbatim in the same language,

 copy the intonation, stress and pitch of the speaker, and

 render/interpret consecutively and simultaneously into target language (English-Indonesian – Vice Versa).

The students should be able to respond correctly to the expected behaviors by 80% considering they are at the level of learning English as Foreign Language in addition to the expectation of developing interpreting skill.

5. :Grading Policy

 Participation : Weekly performance (15%)

 Assignment : Recordings of Interpreting Practice (20%)  Mid-test : Written test on what have been learnt (30%)

 Final Test : Actual conference interpreting practice recorded in the lab (35%).
