Production and Consumptions

During these 5 years, goose egg production shows a significant rise with annual average growth of 16.04% or average production volume of 178.8 thousand ton. Production reached its peak in 2004 with 194 thousand ton, 4.6% rise from the previous year. This figure is relatively small compared to the rise in 2003. Highest production growth took place in 2003 with 8.3% growth. Production volume is expected to go down to 187.7 thousand ton with minus growth of 3.4%. This slowdown is natural since there are massive slaughtering of geese due to the spread of avian flu. Statistically, avian flu issue renders more impact to goose egg production activity than increase in domestic consumption need. Domestic consumption of goose egg is relatively small compared to chicken egg (broiler), this is because Indonesian prefer processed goose egg(salted) than the natural ones.
