First of all, the writer would like to express thankfulness to the almighty Allah SWT for the blessing that Allah SWT has been given to the writer.
Therefore, the writer could compose the final report. The writer also would like to express the warmest gratitude for the noble prophet Muhammad SAW. This report is being written as one of the requirements to finishing Diploma III at English Department. The title of the report is “Writing Short Story Entitled “Whale of A Time” with Setting of Tourism Destinations in Palembang “
The writer realizes that this report still has a lot of insufficiencies and unintended mistakes. Therefore, constructive criticisms and suggestion are accepted for the need of improvement. Finally, the writer expects that this report provides benefits to other people who might need the information especially for the students of English Department.

This final report is aimed to write short story collection with the title “Whale of A Time” with setting of Tourism Destinations in Palembang. The purpose of this final report is to find out the process of writing short story collection which contains some tourism destinations in Palembang as the setting. The problem is how to write short story collection which contains some tourism destination in Palembang as the setting place. In this final report, the writer used research and development method by Sukmadinata (2013). For the process of writing the short story, the writer used steps by Riadi (2013). The writer collected the data by using literature study and field survey. The short story collection was written by the writer and then given to experts. The writer expects that the student of English Department can find more ideas on how to present tourism aspects in Palembang as well as improving English essential skills.

Laporan akhir ini bertujuan untuk menulis kumpulan cerpen dengan judul “Whale of A Time” dengan setting Destinasi Wisata di Palembang. Tujuan dari laporan tugas akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses penulisan kumpulan cerpen yang memuat beberapa destinasi wisata di Palembang sebagai settingnya.
Permasalahannya adalah bagaimana menulis kumpulan cerpen yang memuat beberapa destinasi wisata di Palembang sebagai tempat setting. Dalam laporan tugas akhir ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan oleh Sukmadinata (2013). Untuk proses penulisan cerpen, penulis menggunakan langkah-langkah menurut Riadi (2013). Penulis mengumpulkan data dengan menggunakan studi kepustakaan dan survei lapangan. Kumpulan cerpen tersebut ditulis oleh penulis dan kemudian diberikan kepada para ahli. Penulis berharap mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris dapat menemukan lebih banyak ide tentang bagaimana menyajikan aspek pariwisata di Palembang serta meningkatkan kemampuan dasar Bahasa Inggris.
