ABSTRACT
MARLINANG MAGDALENA SIHITE. "Analysis of Vegetation Cover and Its
Relationship with the amount of the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) on Forest Restoration Resort Sei Betung Mount Leuser National Park". Supervised byPINDA PATANA and SAMSURI.
Mount Leuser National Park is an important habitat for a variety of rare and endangered species, including the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii). The results of this study indicated Areal Restoration Resort Sei Betung based values NDVI Landsat in 2016 has 2 classes density is rather tight and tight. Rather tight vegetation classes has an area of 26.77 ha (7.62%) and tight class vegetation 324.44 ha (92.38%) with a total area of 351.07 ha.
Orangutan population density based on the number of nests in area Restoration Resort Sei Betung is 0.0119 individuals / km2 or 3 individuals /
25.000ha of the total number of nests found 47 nests. Most nests were found at a distance of 701-800 meters from the entire track with the number of 22 nests nests (46.81%) and the nest class that dominates is nest class D with the number 18 (38.30%). Nest position dominant is at the position II with the number of 23 nests (48.94%). Generally nests found at a height of 11-15 meters with 17 nests (36.17%). Selection is based on the type of tree nests found as many as 15 species of trees and dominated by Marak Bangkong (Endospermum diadenum) of the Euphorbiaceae family is equal to 17.02%. The number of nests found in each class is 3 nest (6.38%) in class rather tight vegetation and 44 nests (93.62%) in class tight vegetation.
