POTENSI SARI BUAH CERMAI (
Phyllanthus acidus
) SEBAGAI
ALTERNATIF KOAGULAN LATEKS KARET ALAM
ABSTRAK
Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pemanfaatan sari buah cermai (Phyllanthus acidus) sebagai penggumpal lateks dengan penambahan variasi volume sari buah cermai 5, 10, 15, 20 dan 25 mL. Sebagai kontrol digunakan asam formiat sebagai penggumpal lateks dengan volume yang sama. Terhadap karet kering hasil penggumpalan selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian mutu berupa waktu koagulasi, Plastisitas Retensi Index (PRI), Kadar Abu, dan Kadar Karet Kering (KKK). Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi volume sari buah cermai (Phyllanthus acidus) pada 5 mL memiliki nilai PRI 44,44%, kadar abu 1,2%, KKK 32,6% dengan waktu koagulasi 62,15 menit. Dan hasil variasi volume asam formiat sebagai kontrol pada 5 mL memiliki nilai PRI 54,16%, kadar abu 0,6%, KKK 34,71% dengan waktu koagulasi 57 detik serta sifat fisika yang dihasilkan menurut Standar Indonesia Rubber (SIR) 20.

ALTERNATIVE NATURAL RUBBER LATEX COAGULANT
ABSTRACT
The research about cermai extract (Phyllanthus acidus) had been done as a
coagulant latex with the addition of cermai extract volume variation of 5, 10, 15,
20 and 25 mL. Formic acid was used as a control for coagulant of latex with the same volume. Quality test of rubber that formed was considered by measuring the value of coagulation time, Plasticity Retention Index (PRI), Ash Content, and The Dry Rubber Content (KKK). The results of the research shows that value
variations in the volume of cermai extract (Phyllanthus acidus) at 5 mL has a PRI
value 44,44%, ash content 1,2%, KKK 32,6% with coagulation time 62,15 minutes. And the results of research shows that value variations in the volume of formic acid at 5 mL has a PRI value 54,16%, ash content 0,6%, KKK 34,71% with coagulant time 57 seconds and the resulting physical properties according to Standard Indonesian Rubber (SIR) 20.
