Abstract

This study explores the students’ perspective towards teacher feedback on microteaching course. The research question is: “What are the students’ perspectives towards feedback on microteaching?” This study was conducted on ten English Department students in Satya Wacana Christian University. The participants selected are students who took or were microteaching course. The data was collected by using semi-structured interview and analyzed qualitatively. From the interview, the writer found 37 responses. The 13 responses (35,2%) revealed the students’ perception towards teacher feedback as an important tool for their mini teaching. The different 15 responses (40,5%) confirmed that the students believe the teacher feedback as beneficial for the students’ skills and mini teaching. Another 3 responses (8,2%) showed that the teacher feedback gave the students information about their strengths and weaknesses, and the last 6 responses (16,3%) gave suggestion for the teacher to give detail and clear feedback for the students. The writer concludes that the majority of students perceive feedback as an important aspect in their teaching practice which effectively improve their skill, evaluate their weakness and strength in teaching activity. This finding is supported by Abbasi (2009) who insists that feedback from the pre-service teachers’ peers and supervisor could motivate them to increase their consciousness toward their perspective about teaching. Thus, feedback on microteaching has been found to be perceived positively by the students.
