• Standards for wood and wood products generally

developed by CEN (European Standards Cttee)

• Several sets of standards, the broad categories

being for structural timbers, such as sawnwood

• Standards for wood usually developed on the

basis of an industry or national initiative

• European standards for wood-based construction

products e.g. plywood, particleboard and glue

lam are mandated to CEN by EC under the

Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC)

The EU Export Helpdesk:

• EU and Member States’ import requirements and internal taxes applying in each Member State

• EU preferential import regimes for developing countries (GSP, EBA)

• A "Market Place" where exporters in developing countries can establish contacts with importers from the EU

• Links to EU and Member State authorities and international organisations involved in practical trade operations and

trade promotion

• Possibility to lodge detailed information requests about real-life situations encountered by exporters
