The criterion of students who was successful in mastering the material was the students who got minimum score of 74. Learning

process is said succes when 70% students got score 74.

The fact showed that the result was unsatisfying. That is the reason, the researcherused Movie Media to increase listening skill at SMP 8 Metro .

b. Cycle 1 1) Planning

In this research, the researcher is as an English teacher with Mr. Agustinus Yuwono as collaborator.

Before the learning process began the researcher and the collaborator would like to discuss about, as follow:

(1)Preparing the material of Narrative.

(2)Preparing the lesson plan.

(3)To make the items that will be examined as the treatment and the post-test I in the cycle 1.

(4)Introducing the procedure of Movie Media as a media that used in the learning process.

(5)To make the observation sheet of the students activity 1.

The minimum mastery criteria (MMC) at State Junior High School 8 Metrofor English was 74. The lesson is Listening, Narrative especially. In this meeting, the students were expected by the teacher got specific information of the Narrative. In the first

and second meeting, the teacher would explain about The Material Narrative then applied the Movie Media as a media in learning process. Therefore, in the last meeting, the teacher would evaluate multiple choice for the 26 students of VIII A class. The evaluation was about multiple choice, it consisted of twenty questions based on the Narrative.

2) Acting

The action in the cycle 1 consist of two meetings, one meeting for the treatment and one meeting for the post test 1, there are:

a) The first meeting

The first meeting was conducted on Thursday, November16th 2017. In this meeting the collaborator was being the observer and the researcher was being the teacher. The meeting was started by praying and greeting, checking the attendence list, and asking the students condition. Before doing the next action, the teacher explained about movie media. Then the teacher gave information about narrative material. After the teacher explained the material, the teacher showed movie media with the title

Beastalk”. After that, the teacher asked the

students to read and memorize the vocabularies that is in the movie, then the students watching movies. After the students watching the movies, the teacher asked the students to answer question in the movie one by one.

After give example of movie media the teacher asked the students what the problems were. The students said that listening is difficult because most of them were difficultto identify sound and have lack of vocabularies.

b) The Second Meeting

The second meeting was conducted on Friday, November 17th 2017 for 2x40 minutes. In this meeting, the researcher was being the teacher and the collaborator was being the observer. The meeting was started by praying and greeting, checking the attendence list, and asking the students condition.

At this meeting to measure the students’

listening skill after using Movie Media the researcher tasted the students by writen test.

There are twenty questions. The students did the test by individually. After thet, The teacher play audio, then the teacher asked the students to

3) Observing

In observation of teacher’s action the researcher presented two meeting in cycle 1 of learning to find the information of the monolog in listening lesson.

This observation was conducted by the collaborator, Mr. Agustius Yuwono S.Pd. He is English teacher for the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 8 Metro.

The result of learning process to increase the students’ listening skill by using movie media in cycle 1 was rising than before. It can be seen from the score at pre-test and post-test.

The using of movie media in the learning process is something new at this class, because the students are supposed to be active, not only in a pair at every students, each one of them , also be expected to be active in this case, the first meeting many of them still confuse to determine main idea.

In the test 1 there were 3(11,54%) out students got good score. Although, only 10 the students who got good score. But, the result of the students’ test was better than students’ yet before giving

treatment. The data of the students’ activity can be seen in the table bellows:

explanation were 24 students (92,31%), 18 students (69,23%) responded to the teacher explanation.

Students were inactive in learning process, they were only 15 students (57,69%). 26 students (100%) were Contributed the active ways to doing assigment.

4) Reflecting

Based on the result of cycle I, it can be seen that most of students get difficulty in answering the questions about narrative. It happens because the students do not understand the meaning of the monolog although the teacher has guided the students to do the task. In the end of cycle 1 the result of students’ activities increase from the first meeting until next meeting. The students’ score also increase from the average in the pre test 42 and the average of post test 64 but it was not fulfill the completeness Standard at least 70% students must get ≥74. In the post test of cycle 1 showed that only 10 students who got score more than 74. It is not fulfill the MMC.

c. Cycle II

Because the action of cycle I was not success, in order that in the stage need to be held the cycle II to repair the weakness in the cycle I. The steps of the cycle II as follow:

1) Planning

Based on the reflection that had been conducted in the cycle 1, the researcher and the collaborator made the planning of the action, as follow:

(1) Preparing the material of narrative.

(2) Preparing the lesson plan.

(3) Preparing the items that will be examined as the treatment and the post-test in the end cycle.

(4) Giving instruction to the students as following the procedure of movie media for learning.

(5) Preparing the observation sheet of the students’ activity.

2) Acting

The action in the cycle II, consist of two meetings, one meetings for the action, and one meeting for the post-test 2 in the end cycle. They are:

a) The First Meeting

Based on the learning implementation plan II, the allocation of the time for two meetings (2 x 40 minutes), therefore, the first and the second meeting were used as the implementation of the action in cycle II.

The first meeting was conducted on Thursday, November 23th, 2017 for 2x40 minutes. In this

meeting, the researcher as a teacher and the collaborator as a observer. This meeting was started by praying and greeting, asking the students’ condition and checking the attendence list. Then, the teacher gave the information about the subject that would study. The teacher also gave the example of narrative. After that, the teacher showed the movie media with the title “The Princess and The Dragon”.After that, the teacher asked the students to read and memorize the vocabularies that is in the movie, then the students watching movies. After the students watching the movies, the teacher asked the students to answer question in the movie one by one.

b) The Second Meeting

The second meeting was conducted on Friday, November 24th 2017. This meeting used as the post-test II in the end of cycle II, for 2 x 40 minutes the students was given the action. The researcher gave post test to the students. In this meeting, most of students could answer well. It can be seen from the result of post test II. There were 24 students got appropriate score.
