CHAPTER IV RESEARCH RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
4.4 Discussion
This is also supported by the opinion of Yusuf Yukram (2019), that students at Palopo State Madrasah Aliyah create student interest and build student creativity in the learning process so as to improve student learning outcomes at Palopo State Madrasah Aliyah. And it is hoped that digital literacy will be put to good and positive use by its users, especially among students as pioneers for the progress of the nation by controlling the use of technology or mass media with their digital literacy capabilities to meet the information needs needed from the mass media. And it is hoped that digital literacy will continue to be developed in the world of education and introduce it so that there is no such thing as lacking in character or missing information.
used interview tests and questionnaires to see students' opinions about digital literacy and see student statements about digital literacy at SMK Darussalam Makassar. Researchers took 7 students for interviews and 19 students to fill out a questionnaire.
In the first and third questionnaires, namely "The importance of students utilizing internet access as a learning medium and source of information and through the internet students can access various kinds of information needed".
Stating that the dominant student strongly agrees with this statement. This is supported by, Elizabeth Devi Permatasari (2021) which states that the use of the internet as a learning medium results in an increase in student learning outcomes.
Apart from that, through the internet students also have easy access to additional lecture materials, make it easier to do college assignments and communicate well between fellow students and with lecturers. And in Hamdan Husein Batubara's (2017) research, which states that regarding learning media, it states that learning media can help students who are in the concrete operational phase understand material that is abstract so that it allows students to understand subject matter more quickly.
The internet is a tool that facilitates human work, including in the learning process or in the education category. Digital literacy is an example of using the internet which is very helpful for current students in the learning process. This is supported by (Bella Elphira, 2018) which states that digital literacy is an interest in the actions and skills of people who directly use digital technology and communication tools to access, manage, combine, analyze and assess data create new insights, talk to people others to participate more effectively.
The second and fourth questionnaires are "Students use internet access to search for school information and become a new habit for students in learning and searching for information". Where the dominant student strongly agrees with this.
This is explained by, Dwi Hadya Jayani (2021) which states that the use of the internet for learning activities for students aged 5-24 years continues to increase, which is a necessity for students to continue carrying out teaching and learning activities and become a medium of entertainment, as well as to access information. and social media.
Digital literacy is a student tool or resource to make it easier to solve a problem in the learning process. Where students are needed to become students who are creative, critical and able to compete in the current era of globalization.
So that satisfactory and good results are achieved for a student. This is supported by the learning objectives for Hague: 2011 namely: Digital Literacy refers to the skills, insights, and descriptions to use the latest technology and tools to create and give meaning; and Digital literacy also refers to insight into how communication technology impacts the meanings that follow, as well as the ability to analyze and evaluate existing knowledge in web networks. And digital literacy does not only involve the ability to use technology, information and communication devices, but also the ability to learn and have an attitude of critical, creative and inspiring thinking. Mokhtar (2021), digital literacy also plays a role in developing students' knowledge of certain subject matter by encouraging their curiosity and creativity. Besides being able to add insight, the behavior of a learner is also a trigger and will have an impact when dealing with technology
such as digital literacy. Where students are able to answer problems well, politely or vice versa to the teacher or to their own friends when there are school assignments given or during the learning process. Just as explained by Muhibbin Syah 116-117 which says that, behavior if students pay attention to learning then they will believe their learning outcomes are good, but if they don't pay attention then affective behavior will arise, namely behavior related to anxiety, anger, sadness and alert. This happens because students directly feel that they are able to add knowledge, skills and attitudes. However, behind the many good sides of digital literacy. Still, there is a negative side, where students will easily access whatever they want to see and know, whether it is positive or negative. And sometimes the network that is used to having errors is also one of the triggers for the negative side, because students are not able to solve learning problems in a timely manner. Also, the lack of facilities and education is a negative side, where students have obstacles to be more advanced in terms of thinking, and creativity in the learning process and solving a problem. Brian (2015), also explained that it is undeniable that digital literacy also has a weakness, namely a large flow of information, in this case digital literacy functions like finding, creating, sorting and mastering correct and appropriate data. Then, negative content is one of the challenges of the digital literacy period. The illustrations include pornographic content, SARA rumors and others.
Then the fifth and eleventh questionnaires, namely "Students can carry out search processes on the internet based on various kinds of objects and compile sources of information from several object sources". Stating that students are also
dominant, they strongly agree with this. Viky, Servi and Anita (2018), stated that search engines have benefits in meeting the information needs of students in the learning process so that the benefits of search engines have been felt by students in fulfilling the need for information to search for subject matter, do assignments and add knowledge as well as students' insights in the learning process.
The benefits of technology such as digital literacy cannot be avoided by today's students, so that it becomes very important in supporting the learning process of a student in solving a problem and even shaping the character of students to be more active. This is also explained by Suci Hasliyah (2022), namely the use of technology in this era cannot be separated from people's lives including students. Computer, smartphone and internet technology need to be put to good use by the progress of education. The use of technology is often used by students to find additional information or clarify material contained in textbooks or delivered by the teacher.
The sixth, eighth and ninth questionnaires are "Students know the difference in information on the internet and textbooks and distinguish what they want to know from different sources for the correctness of the information they have obtained". Stating that students are also dominant strongly agree with the statement. This statement is supported by Aan and Ezi (2016) which state that students use learning resources, namely textbooks in finding answers to teacher questions. Meanwhile, internet learning resources are useful for finding information and answers other than those listed in the textbooks. This can add to the knowledge of students. That the use of textbooks and the internet as learning
resources is able to increase student learning activities so that it appears in the learning process carried out by this research that is centered on student activities.
The results of research by Ginanjar et al (2019: 99-105) regarding the implementation of digital literacy in the social studies learning process at SMP Al-Azhar 29 Semarang. The results of his research are that students are more interested in using computer and internet-based learning media, because this can speed up obtaining learning information, while those that are frequently used such as Brainly and Wikipedia. And the use of devices can help them find learning resources that are not found in textbooks. Also explained by Mokhtar 2021, which states that digital literacy can change the mindset of students to have a more critical view of the digital media used. Digital literacy for students in learning is an important aspect of educational attainment. Digital literacy-based learning can encourage students to learn independently in finding information so that learning is not only teacher-centered. Through digital literacy on digital media is also able to integrate learning outcomes in classroom learning.
Furthermore, the seventh and tenth questionnaires are "Before using information from the internet, students will first analyze the background information and will discuss with others in an effort to solve problems related to the assignments obtained". It was found that the more dominant students strongly agreed with the statement above. Where this is supported by those who state that online learning requires the readiness of all parties involved in it including the required technological devices, teacher abilities, student abilities and old wars.
The teacher must also provide feedback to students and parents to what extent the
student's successes and deficiencies must be corrected by students from the learning sessions that have been carried out.
Based on the results of Dwi Priyanto's (2009) research, he also stated that the use of digital media also has weaknesses in learning activities including the media used has not been able to develop student creativity, special skills are needed in operating media for beginners, the use of programs in media is quite complicated so a companion is needed in its use.So the role of parents and teachers is very important at this stage. The stage where students get to know digital literacy in their learning process. So that they use digital literacy properly and correctly, that is, they can access information related to their studies. Or to add to their insight and creativity. Because currently the reach of digital literacy is very broad, we can even know the developments that have been obtained and produced by the nation's children out there and even abroad. As well as being able to find out the negative impacts of digital literacy, so that students do not access and avoid it. Because it is not only detrimental to oneself mentally, but will reduce the trust of teachers and parents when they know we are accessing negative things.
Based on the student statements above, it can be concluded that digital literacy in education has a positive impact on students. Such as easy access to various kinds of information needed to solve problems. And it becomes a new habit for students, namely seeking information not only from textbooks or from teachers. Students also become more critical and communicate a lot with their friends about the information they get. As well as students are also more challenged in sorting the information obtained.
From the results of Siti Sholaekhah's research (2019) it was also found that student learning behavior when participating in learning consisted of sitting behavior, listening behavior, answering behavior, and activity behavior, which was influenced by internal factors, external factors, and learning approach factors;
the benefits of digital literacy in shaping student learning behavior are to increase student learning motivation and creativity, improve student memory, make it easier for students to use digital media properly, increase students' thinking power, change students' bad habits while participating in learning, it is also used as a means of communication with Wali Muris uses the WhatsApp application.
This was also explained by Muhammad Sukri (2021), who stated that the concept of digital literacy as a learning medium in the perspective of Islamic education is trying really hard to get the best and right results, increasing performance by creating, using and managing resources and utilizing technology.
effective without deviating from the values of Islamic teachings. In the view of Islamic education the use of digital media as a learning medium requires extreme caution. We must understand the importance of knowing information, news content, and must be more thorough, and not easily trust sources whose origins are unclear. So in making, selecting, or disseminating information in the learning process, it would be better to be more thorough in advance, which in this case Islamic education calls it tabayyun, so that it is protected from digital media crimes such as hoaxes, bullying, fraud, online gambling, internet addiction and so forth.
The results of Mokhtar's research (2021) also state that the digital literacy of class VIII students at MTsN 1 Pasuruan is included in the good enough
category because the results show as much as 74.51%. From there it also influences the improvement of the quality of student learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the increase in the average score before being given treatment of 82.85897, then after the official e-learning media was used and students were given digital literacy, the average student score increased to 90.03846. This gives an indication that students' digital literacy can influence good learning outcomes and show improvement. So it is concluded that digital literacy has an effect on student learning outcomes.
54 CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
After collecting the data and analyzing the result of the research, the researcher drew some conclusions and suggestion as follows:
5.1. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that: In the learning process, there is a lot of data that shows students are more dominant in the use of media and digital literacy in the learning process. In the use of digital literacy for learning, it can be seen that many students are active in using media to seek various information from various sources. Students are more active in learning and give each other opinions based on the results they find and separate analysis from various sources on the internet. Then they discussed together to provide solutions to the opinions they shared together. and this can make it easier for teachers in the teaching and learning process, by becoming facilitators for students to assist them in processing the information they get from various sources.
Based on the results of the interviews that have been conducted, students answered that the teacher is the main aspect that must provide a comfortable situation in the classroom. This proves that the role of parents and teachers is very important at this stage. The stage where students get to know digital literacy in their learning process. So that they use digital literacy properly and correctly, that is, they can access information related to their studies or to add to their insight and creativity. Because at this time the reach of digital literacy is very broad, we can even know the developments that have been obtained and produced by the nation's
children out there and even abroad. As well as being able to find out the negative impacts of digital literacy, so that students do not access and avoid it. Because it's not only self-defeating mentally. But it also reduces the trust from teachers and parents when they know we are accessing negative things. dalam hal ini guru hanaya berperan sebagai fasilitator dalam pembelajaran
Students' statements also express positive things about digital literacy in their learning process. And help them become more active, creative and have lots of references in solving problems and improving their learning outcomes and competitive styles outside the learning process in the classroom.
5.2. Suggestion
It is hoped that there will be an evaluation or explanation for students regarding the use of good digital literacy, that there will be an evaluation or explanation for students about avoiding negative things when using digital literacy. It is hoped that there will be evaluations or explanations for students regarding the benefits of digital literacy, which are very numerous and broad in increasing the potential of a student, that there will be guidance from parents and teachers so that students avoid negative things in the use of digital literacy. It is hoped that all teachers can apply digital literacy in every learning process at school, so that students don't experience being left behind and are able to compete with great and genius people out there.
