This species isgenerally
common on
the shores ofsouthern Japan.We have
seenspecimensofvarioussizesfrom
Tsuruga,Akune, Waka-
noiira, Tokyo,
Yokohama,
Misaki,and
Nagasaki. It is valued as a foodfish.It is easily
known by
thenumber
of 15 dorsal spines,and by
the presenceon
thesides of stripes along the rows of scales.(punctatus, spotted.)
