MEN'S INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL

We, the men's fraternal organizations of Alfred University, in order to promote har- mony and mutual understanding among the fra ternities on the campus; to act as an interpreting me,lium between the faculty and the allif'd organizations on the campus of the University; to lay and enforc., rules for governing all situations of common in- terest to the fraternities, do hereby adopt and agree to be governed by the following Constitution and By-laws of the 1I1en's In- terfraternit.v Council.

Sec. 2. The object of this organization shall be to control all matter<l that may be determined to be of mutual Interest to th"

Sec. 1. The Council shall I", composed of th['ee representatives from each member organization.

Sec. 2. Each representative shall be entitled to one vote in any meeting of the Council.

Sec. 1. The officer" of the Council shall be a Presinent, a Vice Prp~ident, and a Rec-

l'etary-TI'(~asIIrer.

Sec. 2. The duties of the officers shall be in general, those pertaining to their offi- ces by parliamentary custom.

Sec. 3. The Secretary shall furnish a copy of the minntes of each meeting of the Council to each member fraternity within one week after d3Jte of meeting.

Sec. 4. The Treasurer shall pay ou t moneys only by direction of the Council.

ART. V-PLEDGIXG

. Se~. 1. No man shall have a pledge pin

pledge pin in tbe proper place, or has signified in writing his intention of join- ing a given fraternity.

Sec. 2. No fraternity shall pledge a man untlI after he has completed the work of one Semester after matriculating in Alfred University.

Sec. 3. The following rules shall be strictly observed in regard to pledging:

(1) Closed Season shall be deftned as that time from the beginning of college in the fall until Rushing Week.

(2) During Closed Season, no fraternit.l' shall entertain more than three Freshmen at anyone time.

(3) The last full week of college he- j'ore Christmas vacation shall be considered as Rushing Week. Beginning on the Mon- day of this week, eacb fraternity shall have a night to entertain prospective pledgees. These nights shall be chosen by lottery.

(4) Bids shall be s!'nt out by the Sec- retary of tlle Council at 8 :00 A. M., on the last Friday before the beginning of Christmas vacation. All bids stamped and addressed, must be in the bands of the Secretary, by that time.

(6) 'From the time the bids are sent out, and until 12 :00 o'clock noon of the following Monday, no fraternity shall dis- cuss fraternity matters with any prospec.

Sec. 1. The regular meetings of the Council shall be at 9 :30 P. M. on tbe first 'Ve<Inesday of each month of the college year.

2. The place of meeting shall be rotated among the fraternities in the order of their signing the Constitution.' Notice of each Ineeting shall be given by the President of the Council at least twenty-four houl's be·

fore the time of meeting.

Sec. 3. The President of the Council shall be a Senior memher, and the Vice President a Junior member. In case the President is detached from his office for any' l'ea~on, the Vie" Pl'Psident shall hecome President for the remainder of his term.

Sec. 4. All' representatives shall assume their duties at the first regular meeting of th~ CounCil in the fall, with the ex- ception of the Agricultural School repre- sentatives, who shall assume their duties at the first meeting after the opening of the Agricultural Sellool, and shall serve during the entire college year.

1'he officers of the Council shall be elected at the first meeting of the year after the opening of the Agricultural School.

Sec. 6. Special committees may be ap- pointed at any time by tbe PresIdent.

Sec. 7. In case of the absence of any member from any meeting of the Council, said member's vacancy must be filled by a ranking substitute should a fraternity not be fully represented at a Council meeting.

A fine of one dollar shall be imposed upon each absentee at or before the next meet- ing of the Council.

Sec. 8. All motions pertaining to reprimands, penalties, suspensions, and ex- pulSions, shall be carl'ie<I by a three-fourths majority vote. All amendments shall be carrIed by a unanimous vote.

'Sec. 9. All oth er measures shall be carried by a majority vote.

Sec. 13. All voting shall be done by open ballot unless otherwise designated.
