In this study, the researcher conducted the research in two cycles. Every cycle consisted of five meetings. Then, at the end of the meeting, the writer gave the test to the students, after that, the researcher gave a final test at the end of the cycle in order to see any improvement in learning after teaching process trough video movie. Each cycle had four steps, as in the following:

Cycle 1

1. Plan

There are some activities done by the researcher in this phase, they are:

a) Preparing the lesson plan used in this research. In this step, the researcher also designs the materials that are given to the students.

b) Preparing the instrumentation, such as tests, observation sheets, and field notes. The test was used to collect the quantitative data and the observation sheets and field notes were used to collect the qualitative data.

c) Before conducting this study, the researcher had discussed with the collaborator how to conduct the study effectively.

2. Action

Everything that had been prepared in the planning was taking place. The researcher gave treatment to the students through video movie of narrative story. The researcher conducted the research in two cycles. Every cycle consisted of five meetings. Then, at the end of the meeting, the researcher gave tasks to the students. After that, the researcher gave post-tests at the end of cycle, in order to find any improvement of learning after being taught through the video movie of narrative story. In teaching the learning process the researcher was helped by a collaborator. The procedures of teaching reading comprehension of narrative text by using video movie are as follow:

A. Pre – teaching activities :

1. Teacher greeted the students

2. Teacher took the attendance list of the students 3. Teacher mentioned the purpose of the study

4. Teacher gave an explanation before listening and watching the video movie.

5. Teacher asked the students some questions related to the movie that will be showed.

6. Teacher showed the video movie of narrative story.

B. While-Teaching Activity

1. Students discussed about character.

2. Students discussed about the setting (Teacher monitors the activities).

3. Students discussed the plot/story line (Teacher monitors the activity).

4. Teacher and students discussed about the result of the group discussion.

5. Teacher asked about the moral value from the video movie of the narrative story.

6. Teacher delivered similar text in a jumble paragraph.

7. Students arranged the paragraph (The teacher monitors the activity).

8. The students checked whether they are arranged correctly or not.

9. Students read the original text carefully.

10.Teacher led a discussion about narrative text.

- Describe and determine the purpose of the text.

- Describe and determine part of the text (problem and resolution).

- Describe and determine the language features of the text (the use of verbs and preferences).

11.Teacher led discussion about narrative text C. Post – teaching activity

1. Teacher asked what her students do not understand about the narrative text.

2. Teacher delivered work sheet for students to find the answers to some comprehension questions.

3. Teacher collected the students’ worksheets and ended the class.

3. Observation

The writer observed the students’ activities during the teaching and learning process while watching the video movie. The researcher, in the teaching and learning process was helped by a collaborator. At the end of every meeting, the collaborator helped the researcher to make the assessment of the students and wrote down her notes on the observation sheet.

4. Reflecting

The result for this study was obtained from the observation sheets, field notes, interviews and the results of students’ reading comprehension tests. In this part, the researcher reflected on the result of the research. The researcher continued this study through the second cycle in teaching reading comprehension based on the result of the reflection. However, there were some changes done based on the result of the reflection of the researcher and the collaborator. In this step, all of the plans were designed in order to make improvements at the next cycle.

Cycle II

During the second cycle, the researcher did the activities that had been prepared in the revised plan. The researcher emphasized her teaching on unsolved

problems during the teaching and learning process, such as the students’ inability to comprehend all the indicators in the reading comprehension of narrative text.
