RESEARCH METHOD
In this chapter deals with research method, popilation and sample, research instrument, data collection technique, and data analysis technique.
A. Research Method
In this research, the researcher applied Descriptive Quantitative Method. The researcher applied that method to describe the students perception on the use of Google Classroom in language teaching. Where the data was described objectively or based on questionnaire.
B. Population and Sample 1. Population
The population of this reserach was 310 students of 2016 in five semester English Education Department at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar.
2. Sample
The research used Sampling Purposive. According to Sugiyono (2017) sampling purposive is a sample determination technique with certain concideration. The researcher choose the sample in this research was 30 students of C Class of 2016 English Education Department because C Class active to use Google Classroom in learning.
C. Research Instrument
The research instruments used for data collection was questionnaire.
According to Sugiyono (2017) questionnaire is a data collection technique that is done by giving a set of questions or written questions to the respondents to answer. In this research, the researcher distibuted questionnaire directly to respondents. The questionnaire was used to measure the students perception on the use of Google Classroom in langauge learning.
D. Data Collection Technique
In collected the data, the researcher applied questionnaire by doing these following procedures.
1. The researcher used questionnaire and questions are direct to the students perception on the use of Google Classroom in language learning.
2. The researcher gave the explanation to the students about the purpose of the questionnaires and how to answer the questionnaire.
3. The researcher inform the objectives of the questionnaire after distributing to the students.
4. The students answer the questionnaire in the answer sheet and they had 30 minutes to anwer the questionnaire.
5. After collecting the data, the researcher classified and analyzed the data from the students.
E. Data Analysis Technique
The researcher used the formula from Wahyuni et. al (2016) to measured and analyzed the questionnaire.
P =
Which:
P : Percentage F : Frequency
N : Number of sample 100 % : Constant value
(Wahyuni et.al , 2016)
The researcher was describe the data and also the percentage of data.
It is to make the result of the research clear and readable.
CHAPTER IV
FINDING AND DISCUSSION
This chapter consist of findings and discussion of the research. The findings of the research presents the result of students perception on the use of Google Classroom in language learning. The discussion of the research is further explanation of the findings.
A. Findings
In this part, the researcher describe the result of analysis based on the problem statement. In this research used questionnare to obtain accurate and valid data. B. Discussion
In this section, the result of the data collected and analysis discuss to describe students perception on the use of Google Classroom in language learning. The description of the data collected from the result of the students response to the acceptance of easiness of Google Classroom was agree and students response to performance of Google Classroom was agree. Based on the findings above, the use of Google Classroom have a good response from students.
1. Students Acceptance of Easiness of Google Classroom
Perceived ease of use, in contrast refers to the degree to which a person believes that using a particular system would be free of effort, this follows from the definition of ease: freedom from difficulty of great effort, David (1989). Based on the research of Cech and Bures (2004) state that implementation of e-learning can be hindered with countless problem. The problems can be derived from the three basic elements in every organization, these elements are people, processes, and the technology. In this case people related to students abilities, students and teacher behaviour and teacher motivation in using Google Classroom.
The process is related to the implementation of Google Classroom in conducting language learning and technology related to the selection of system and means for their use.
The result of data analysis for students acceptance of the easiness of Google Classroom were obtained on most of students agreed with the easiness of Google Classroom in language learning. It means that from the questions about the students acceptance of easiness of Google Classroom in language learning in the questionnaire, students was agree and get of good respond about that. Google Classroom is easy to use for students because students can access faster material, assignment and important announcement from Google Classroom that can be accessed via website or smartphone by students. It is related with the reserach of Shaharanee, et. al (2016) state that Google Classroom makes the process
of submitting assignment easier, the students get the feedback from teacher, and could be easily contact the teacher used Google Classroom.
Students also easy to learn because they can access Google Classroom anywhere, so students are interested and happy to learn language.
Students interest in learning cause students easy to understand learning material. It is related with the research of Utami (2019) state that Google Classroom is easy to use both in terms of student behavior in use Google Classroom, implementation of Google Classroom in learning and the availability of infrastructure to use Google Classroom.
2. Performance of Google Classroom
According to Venkatesh et. al in Vermaut (2016) state that performance expectancy is the degree to which an individual or user expects that by using the system can help gain profit or ease in working.
Performance is related to the appearance, workings and facilities provided by the Google Classroom for users. So, the performance of Google Classroom can make it easier for students to carry out the language learning process.
The result of data analysis for performance of Google Classroom were obtained on most of students agreed with performance of Google Classroom in language learning. It means that from the 9 questions about the performance of Google Classroom in questionnaire, students was agree with performance of Google Classroom and get good respond from students. Performance of Google Classroom supporting language
learning because through Google Classroom students be facilitated to get and save the document such as material and important assignment or tasks. So, if students have not time to print the required documents, they can access it from Google Classroom. It is related with the research of Mustaniroh (2015) state that Google Classroom as a media of learning can repeat the learning material and the material can be opened anytime.
Students are also facilitated to get announcement from the teacher in real time, so that become effective and efficient in terms of time. It is related with the research of Afrianti (2018) stated that performance of Google Classroom has significant effect in supporting language learning because it can make it easier for students to send assignment, receive learning material and effective for learning process.
Based on the data, students perception on the use of Google Classroom has good respond because students was agree with the easiness of the use of Google Classroom and Google Classroom performance.
Google Classroom can facilitate the students in language learning process because through Google Classroom, students is easy to get information or announcement, do and submit their task or assignment, and also students can save their learning material and use it everytime and everywhere students want.
CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
This chapter consist of the conclusion and suggestion based on the analysis of data and findings.
A. Conclusion
Based on the discussion of the findings previously, the researcher can conclude that the indicator of students acceptance of easiness of Google Classroom showed that most of students (73.63%) were agree and other students (26.05%) were disagree. Students acceptance of easiness of Google Classroom were obtained on most students agreed with that because students can access faster material, assignment, importants announcement or information, and students are interested and happy in language learning. The indicator of performance of Google Classroom showed that most of students (91.11%) were agree and other students (8.89%) were disagree perceptions.
Performance of Google Classroom in language learning were obtained on most students agreed with that because Google Classroom facilitate students to get and save the materials, documents or assignment and send their assignment through Google Classroom. Therefore, the result showed students agree with the use of Google Classroom in language learning, so Google Classroom can be use as a media in language learning.
B. Suggestion
From the findings presented in chapter four, there are some suggestions as follows:
1. In this research, most of students C Class of 2016 English Education Department Muhammadiyah University of Makassar agreed that Google Classroom is good to use as a media in learning. For the lecturers, it is be better if beside to use Google Classroom as a media of learning, teachers also have to use the other media of learning and collaborate it with Google Classroom to make a better learning process.
2. In this research, Google Classroom facilitate the students to easy in learning process. For the students, it is be better if students use Google Classroom facilities properly in learning so the students can impove their knowledge and ability in language learning.
3. In this research, the researcher focused on the eacceptance of easiness of Google Classroom and performance of Google Classroom. For the next researcher, it is be better if the next researcher focus on other case of Google Classroom in language learning and use this research as a preference to know more about Google Classroom in language learning as media of learning.
