FINDING AND DISCUSSION

This chapter deals with the findings of the research and discussion of the findings. The findings were arranged in line with the problem statements outlined in introduction part. In the discussion section, argument and further interpretation of the findings are given.

A. Research Findings

This section presents Use Wattpad Application To Increase Students Reading Comprehension at first grade at SMP NEGERI 2 GANTARANKEKE. The process of collecting data applied observation, questionare and documentation. In observation section, there were 25 students in SMP NEGERI 2 GANTARANKEKE observed by gave some questions related to the research in order to increase the student‟s who had more experience in reading subjects, and student‟s had their ways when learned reading subjects. Based on the collected data, the researchered follows the procedure as follows Pre-Test to know the students‟ reading comprehension before they were given a treatment. The next part was test that was be distributed to the whole class after processing. The test was similar to the most beautiful test. The function of the test was to found out the student's knowledge and reading proficiency after applied the Wattpad app. The improvement in ingredient expertise has been experienced by post-test and post- test effects.

The expert compared the consequences of the control before and after the test, if the consequences of the subsequent control were higher than the best. It means the media has succeeded.

The mean score of reading students is about 71,967 on the former test with a standard deviation of 8.05563 and a standard error of 1.47038 and on the latter test of 8.4 with a standard deviation of 7.32850 and a standard error of 1.33799, it is provided by the average score of the students who took the pre-test and the post- test higher and significantly improved the mean score of the pre-test after performing the treatment.

The average score has improved significantly, from 7.9667 in the best test to 8,5000 in the test. It has been shown to use reading through the Wattpad app as an aid in teaching reading with a 16.4% increase.

Table 4.3 above demonstrated that the highest estimate is larger than the panel value. The table demonstrates the sequelae of 16,454 > 2.045. it implies that there was an improvement in liner speech when the treatment used dial cycle through the seventh layer liner Google Research Lab at Smp Negeri 2 Gantarangkeke.

In light of the elaboration above, it very well may be inferred that the invalid speculation (H0) was dismissed though the elective theory was acknowledged when utilized cycle composing of the 7th grade understudies at Smp Negeri 2 Gantarangkeke.

B. Discussion

There were some points presented in this part based on the result of this research. The problem of this study mentioned above was be discussed in this

part. The results of this study suggest that Wattpad, as a tool for teaching reading comprehension, can made student‟s feel confident and comfortable sharing their work. The results also showed that there was a violation of student scores from pre-test to post-test. Although some student‟s do not understand how to used Wattpad, other students can help them and increase their score. Questionnaire results indicate that student‟s enjoy learning used technology, especially learning to read. On the other hand, some student‟s prefer to used paper in their studies because they don't had enough smartphones and internet access yet. Also seen on Rukun (2019), he shows that Wattpad as a teaching and learning medium can improve students' reading skills depending on test results and observations. On the other hand, this study also shows that some students was no longer use Wattpad to learn to read because they don't had a smartphone and don't knew how to used it.

This was similar to the results of Aytan (2017), Turkish teacher candidates consider that the Wattpad environment is not useful in terms of copyright and plagiarism, as well as health issues. However, they also show that the Wattpad environment offers some advantages in terms of time savings and quick returns.

On the other hand, the used of technology, especially Wattpad, can solve some problems in the classroom such as time consuming, the advantage of technology and the ability of students to absorb material in the classroom. The results of this study show that the technique used by teachers in the classroom enables students to understand the content. The situation that the teacher built also makes the students feel no pressure. Same thing with HERLINA RAHMAWATI, Wattpad as a support can help students to solve certain problems like motivation and to

39

perform tasks without pressure. In addition, the teacher was also very helpful in explained the application to the student‟s. Teachers can also easily demonstrate from them. This study was conducted in a vocational school, this technology was also beneficial; for them, especially for students who specialize in tourism. Next, the researcher also hopes that students can used the media to improved their reading skills and their knowledge of historical events.

Platform. They can received comments, comments or criticism from readers without seeing their faces. Students who has a hobby of reading a novel, this app can help them shared stories. They can engaged readers they may not be aware of, so the feedback they give will be constructive.

CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION AND SUGESTION A. Conclusion

In conclusion, this study presents student‟s reading comprehension of reading comprehension on Wattpad application. It can be concluded that teaching reading of using wattpad on narrative has significant effect on students‟ reading comprehension of the seventh grade students at SMP NEGERI 2 GANTARANGKEKE. So, this research is relevant to solve the problem of the research.

B. Suggestion

In this study, the author wants to gave some suggestions to improved students' reading comprehension ability of autobiographical texts in order to achieve the best results.

1. For English teacher

English teachers should be able to develop their techniques and ways of teaching students in order to interest them in learning English, especially reading skills. The use of technology and media in the teaching and learning process can capture the interest and motivation of students. The researcher suggested that English teachers use story maps as one of the media in foreign language classes to teach reading skills in narrative texts or other genres.

42

2. For the students

Reading was an important subject, but most students had difficulty understanding a text. Therefore, students should seriously and carefully listen to the teacher's explanations in the teaching and learning process. To improved reading skills, students must develop their vocabulary fluency and do many exercises to better understand a text.

3. For the next researcher

The author hopes that subsequent researchered can used this study as a benchmark for their research in the same area. It was likely that there was be another study design that uses story cards as a means of teaching reading comprehension of narrative texts or other genres.
