The Problem Statement of the research is Does Cursory Reading Tecchnique improve reading achievement at Eleventh Grade students of SMAN 1 Baraka Enrekang.The research aimed to find out the improvement of reading achievement by using cursory reading technique.
To answer the research question was related to the object of study, the researcher applied Experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design.
The writer collected data by giving pretest and posttest. The sample of the research was class XI IIS 1 of SMAN 1 Baraka Enrekang, which consist 25 students. The samples were taken by using purposive Sampling Technique.
The result of the research showed that the Eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Baraka Enrekang had fairly good score in pretest. After treatment, their reading comprehension is significantly increased. The result of the data analysis showed that the mean score of pre test was 7.16 while the mean score of post test was 8.64. Then, the result of the test significant showed that t-test (12. 26) was higher than t-table (2.064).Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Cursory Reading Technique is effective in increasing the students‟ reading comprehension.
