The subjects of the research were the pupils of VIII. class, which consisted of 13 students. The result of students' reading comprehension in I. and II. The research findings showed that the use of TPS (Think pair and share) could improve students' reading comprehension.

Research findings showed that the use of TPS (Think Pair and Share) was to improve students' literal understanding. Therefore, reading comprehension is a way for students to get at what they want to know from the reading material. Based on the interview with the English teacher at SMP 40 Sinjai, she was told that the students' motivation to follow the reading activity was low.

According to Robertson (2006), the definition of the Think-Pair-Share technique is a strategy designed to allow students to formulate their individual ideas and share these ideas with another student. It can improve their reading comprehension and promote their motivation to read English texts. Moreover, the researcher interned in the subject of the school and found that the students had a lack of motivation in reading the facts of the magazine and the researcher above the researcher experienced interest in re-exploring with the different skills under the title “Improving Students' Reading Comprehension through Thinking Pairs and Sharing.” Does the use of Think Pair and Share improve literal comprehension among the second grade students of SMP Negeri 40 Sinjai?

To find out the use of Think Pair and Share improve vocabulary comprehension in second grade students of SMP Negeri 40 Sinjai.

Very setiawan (2014) in his thesis "The Implementation of Think Pair and Share Technique to Improve Students' writing skills for the eighth grade of SMP muhammadiyah 1 ponogoro in the academic year 2013/2014". This means that a reader must be able to interpret the meaning of the text well. Finally, students must practice interpreting and understanding the material in order to have reading skills as well as possible.

The Think-Pair Share learning model developed by Frank Lyman et al from the University of Maryland in 1985. The Think-Pair Share learning model is one of the simplest cooperative learning models. Kagan's idea (2009) that the pair and share model has benefits such as; students think actively; thinking becomes more focused when we talk about it with a partner; more critical thinking is retained after a lesson in which students had the opportunity to discuss and think about the topic; many students find it easier or safer to engage in a discussion with another classmate than with a large group; and when students have adequate time to think, the quality of their answers improves.

Students can be given more as the extra waiting time and the quality of answers can be better, and (2) The teacher can also have more time to think when using Think-Pair-Share. They can focus on listening to student responses, observing student reactions and high levels of questions asked. Learning using the Think-Pair-Share model is one of the models that use pairs of cooperative group structure.

The above conceptual framework explains the process of teaching English to improve students' reading comprehension through "think pair and share", so that students can determine the main ideas and supporting details of the descriptive text. The researcher asked the students about the content of the story via think pair and share. At the end of the first cycle, the researcher provided the reading text (descriptive text).

Then did reflection by seeing the result of the observation, about the teaching learning process by reading by using Think Pair and Share. The researcher made lesson planning on thinking pairs and shared to teach each meeting (2 meetings) and made format for an observation sheet to see the state of the students in the teaching process. At the end of the second cycle, the researcher administered the reading test (descriptive text).

Then, by seeing the result of the observation, reflected on whether the teaching learning process of reading by used reading method and Think Pair and Share reach success criteria based on the test result of the second action. This research used Total sampling technique because the population of SMP Negeri 40 Sinjai has only one class in second grade.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS

Discussion

It investigates the result of treatment teaching and learning process towards the use of Think Pair and Share to improve students' reading comprehension in second grade in SMP Negeri 40 sinjai kab. There were some previous studies on the different percentage improvement in reading comprehension using Think Pair and Share. According to Dino sugiarto, (2014) in his thesis "The implementation of thinking-pair-sharing model to improve students' ability to read narrative texts" has found that the data were collected from reading tests at the end of each cycle .

It was found that students' ability to read narrative texts improved after implementing the Think-Pair-Share model." In this study, the researcher concluded that the use of Think Pair and Share was effective in improving students' reading comprehension skills through Think Pair and Share. As stated earlier, this study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of Class VIII UPTD students at SMPN 40 Sinjai through Think Pair and Share.

Kuliana (2007) in his thesis "the use of Think-Pair-Share technique to improve students' reading comprehension" also deals with this research. Furthermore, by applying the Think-Pair-Share technique in the teaching-learning process, the students became motivated and also happy to learn English, especially in the reading class. The researcher can say that teaching reading through Think Pair and Share is a good way to improve students' reading comprehension.

Based on the research findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the following conclusions were Using Think Pair and Share could improve the students' literal understanding (main idea) at class VIII. Students' Used Think Pair and Share could make the students more active in learning process, especially in reading activities. Improving the students' reading comprehension performance by using Think-Pair-Share at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Kalisat Jember in the 2007/2008 Academic Year.

It is therefore strongly recommended to be applied in the teaching of reading in the classroom in order to increase the students' reading comprehension. The effectiveness of using summarization technique in teaching reading comprehension of the second year of MTSN Pucanglabang Tulungagung in the academic year 2012/2013. Improving the Students' Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text Using Concept-Oriented Reading Interaction at the Grade VIII Private Islamic Junior High School Ali Imron Medan.
