Research shows that there is an improvement in students' speaking ability using the story completion technique. This shows that by using the story completion technique, students' speaking skills can be improved2. Based on the above two studies, the researcher focuses on improving students' speaking performance.

It means that speech is the form of abstract systems that includes the phonological and grammatical system of language, which is produced in a reciprocal exchange in which both reception and production play a role. In addition, they must consider the situation, the condition of the students and the materials to be taught. According to Douglas (2001), the types of students who speak in the classroom can be divided into 5 types.
The additional form of conversation discussed in the previous chapter is interpersonal dialogue, accepted more for the purpose of maintaining public connection. Terminologically, David Nunan stated that "for most people, mastery of the art of speaking is the single most important aspect of learning a second or foreign language, and success is the measure of the ability to carry on a conversation in language".13 . Speech in the sense of use is simply a physical embodiment of abstract systems involving the manifestation of either the phonological system or the grammatical system of language.
In the sense of customs, speaking is part reciprocal exchange in which both reception and production play a role. Teacher gives students extended monologues in the form of oral reports, summaries and storytelling and short speeches. In the participant information sheet, you should provide participants with information about the nature of the task, and what they are expected to do, emphasizing the necessity of writing a story .22.
Based on the above theoretical review, the writer formulates the action hypothesis as follows: “using the story completion technique will be able to improve the speaking performance of the students in SMP KARTIKATAMA Metro in the academic year 2018/2019.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Dependent Variable
Independent Variable
Furthermore, the indicator for this variable was that the student can be concrete and take an interest in what was talked about. Story completion is the technique to make teaching and learning speaking performance more enjoyable and fun. The way to measure in independent variable was through observation and measuring instrument using observation sheet.
Setting of the Research
Subject of the Research
Procedure of The Research
Additionally, Jean McNiff suggested that action research be conducted with the critical partner.26 This means that the researcher would conduct the research together with the friend. The researcher used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) cycle by Jean McNiff and Jean Whitehead as shown below:27. The implementation of this classroom action research (CAR) generally consists of four they were; planning, action, observation and reflection.
Planning was the first step in any activity, without planning the activity the writer does will not focus. Based on the observation, the researcher can determine if there was something that the researcher needs to improve soon so that the action can achieve the goal required by the researcher. In this step, the writer observes the teaching learning process using the form of observation.
Through reflection, the researcher and teacher will realize the strength and weakness of the actions taken by the researcher and teacher. Planning was the first step in any activity, without planning the activity the researcher will not focus on. In this step, the researcher will compare the result of pre-test and post-test.
The writer reviews and reflects on the students' activity and the teacher's efforts, whether it was positive or negative, the second cycle enough or the need for the next step.
Data Collecting Technique
- Test
 - Observation
 - Documentation
 - Field Note

In the context of science, observation means more than just observing the world around us to get ideas for research.29 Moreover, research uses the activities given and researched to learn in the classroom whether or not they are bored with that given activity. The objects of observation are the teacher as the completion of the story using and the speaking performance of the students. This technique is used to collect data about students' use of story completion and speaking performance.
The researcher used the documentation method to get detailed information about the history of the school, the sum of the teacher, employers, students and organizational structure in eighth graders of SMP KARTIKATAMA Metro. Field note was an observational tool used in CAR to record what happened during an observation, including a description of places, people, objects, actions, activities, events, purposes, time, and feeling.30 In this study, the researcher field note to record the student's activity during the learning process in spoken form.
Data Analysis Technique
Indicator of Success
Classroom action research materials used story completion as a technique for student improvement. oral presentation. a. The result of the student's score on Post-test 1 will be displayed in the following table:. Student results after test 1 of the 1st cycle. Frequency of students' results in the 1st posttest of the 1st cycle. No rating Frequency percent category.
The result of a learning process to improve students. speech performance at story completion as cycle 1 technique was increasing than before. But the results of the students' tests were better than the students' even before they gave treatment. From the result of cycle 1, it showed that there was an increase in the result at pre-test and post-test 1. The students were interested enough in the learning process, although the state of the learning process was still uncontrolled.
We can conclude that the learning process was successful and that the students were active in the second cycle. The researcher checked the students' score before and after using story completion to improve speaking performance. In I. and II. during the cycle, the students' scores before the test, post-test 1 and post-test 2 increased.
In addition, the researcher used the story completion of some steps to improve the speaking skills of the students. After going through cycle I and cycle II, the speaking skills of the students improve because the researcher has used the technique of completing stories. It can be concluded that the speaking performance of the students is improved through the story completion technique in SMP Kartikatama Metro.
RESEARCH RESULT AND DISCUSSION
Description of Researh Setting
Description of Research Data
The researcher told the students that the researcher would conduct the research in their classroom in order to know their pronunciation ability before doing the action research in the classroom. In the planning phase, the researcher and the collaborator prepared some things related to the teaching and learning process such as: prepared the lesson plan, made the instrument that would be examined as a post test in cycle I, prepared the material, made the observation. student activity sheet, identified the problem and found the causes of the problem at the beginning and at the end of the learning activities. The researcher also planned to give assessment to measure students' mastery of the given materials.
The meeting was started with prayers and greetings, checking the list of participants and asking about the condition of the students. The students did the test individually after the students were given the action in the first meeting. The criterion for students who were successful in mastering the material was those students who obtained a minimum score of 65.
This meeting, which was used as the post-test II at the end of cycle II, gave the students the action. It was well finished by the students where they map picture used to describe story completion technique. In this stage, the students are more active and enthusiastic to follow the teaching learning process.
Pay attention to the teacher's explanation. Understanding the material Active in class The students can do the task.
Interpretation
- Action and Learning Result in Cycle I and Cycle II
 - Result of The Students‟ Activities
 - Discussion

From the increase of each cycle, it can be seen that the use of story completion can improve students' speaking performance, because students able to speak in front of the class, they can improve their speaking performance. It means that the students can reach the target, the target is 70% students got the result 65. There was an increase in the students who got the result up to the standard from the pre-test to the post-test 1, and from the post-test the test 1 to post-test 2.
Based on the explanation above, the researcher concluded that the research was successful because the result score of the students achieved the indicator of success which was 70% with the minimum mastery criteria being 65. Based on the table above, the conclusion could made that there is an increase in students' activities during the learning process of cycle 1 and 2 although story completion is used as a technique. Therefore, this research was declared complete and could be stopped in cycle 2 because the result of the students' activities achieved the indicator of success which was 70% and the students get the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC) score is 65.
Based on the explanation of cycle I and cycle II, it can be concluded that using the story completion technique can improve students. It could be observed that there was an improvement in the average grade and the total number of students who passed the test from pretest, posttest I and posttest II. It was the reason why the researcher chose a story completion technique to improve students' speaking performance because this technique seems to be a good way in the learning process.
The researcher gives a card with a picture and the students can describe it with their own sentence, the students speak well and the students gain confidence. It means that the technique of completing stories could improve the speaking performance of the students. The teachers are recommended to use these media to make the students more active in the classroom.
