Translation is a change and transfer of the form and meaning from the source language to the corresponding target language. It caused by the students' judgment that the result of the translation of the target language (TL) would be appropriate with the source language (SL). This means that the result of the communicative translation can be understood by the reader and the message can be received. The purpose of this research is to investigate whether there was an impact of using communicative translation on translation performance.

The Background of The Problem

This means that a message from the source language can be correctly and accurately sent to the target language. Translation is changing and transferring form and meaning from the source language to an equivalent target language. Not only translate word for word, but also highlight the equivalent meaning based on the source language without changing the message intent of the text.

Objectives and Benefits of Research 1. The Objectives of The Research

The Concept of Translation

In the case of specialized texts, this is often the source language author or someone with a better command of the subject than the translator. He must be able to make comparisons between the lexical structures of the two languages. One of the first steps in the analysis should be a careful examination of these keywords, in order to find a good lexical equivalent in the receptor language.

Analysis of the source text and translation into the target language. Transfer is the process of going from the analysis of the semantic structure to the initial draft of the translator. In the first method, the translator tries to accurately convey the contextual meaning of the source text.

A faithful translation is an attempt to reproduce the exact contextual meaning of the original within the constraint of the grammatical structures of the target language. Its attempt to be completely faithful to the intention and textual realization of the source language writer. This means that the result of the communicative translation can be understood by the reader and the message can be received.

The meaning of a word depends on the position of the word and in the sentence as a predicate or an object. The third is contextual and situational meaning, it is related to the context and situation of the word used. Fifth is sociocultural meaning; it is related to the culture of the language interlocutor.

The Concept of Communicative Translation Method

Newmark argues that communicative translation attempts to represent the exact contextual meaning of the original in such a way that both content and language are easily acceptable and understandable to the readership.12 It means that the result of communicative translation can be understood by the reader and the message can be received. Based on the above explanation of the characteristic of translation methods, it can be deduced that communicative translation is the most ideal translation method. They are independent variables and dependent variables, the independent variable is the communicative translation method, and the dependent variable is the translation performance.

In the teaching of translation, the teacher can apply one of the translation method, which is communicative translation method. Communicative translation method should be simple, clear and short, and always written in a natural and inventive style. Based on the above explanation, it can be formulated the theoretical framework is communicative as a method that is properly used in the teaching and learning of English process, so that students' translation performance can be conversely increased, if communicative as a method that is not properly used in teaching not be used.

Based on the above paradigm, it could be seen that if the communicative translation method is very good; the grade of the students'. And if the use of the communicative translation method is good, the student's translation performance grade would be good. So if through the use of the communicative translation method is poor, the grade of students' translation performance would be poor, that there is no positive and significant impact of the implementation of the communicative translation method on the students.

There is a positive and significant influence of the communicative translation method on the translation performance of the students of the English Education Study Program of Jurai Siwo Metro State Islamic College in the academic year 2013/2014.

Population and Sampling Technique 1. Population

Sampling Technique

In this research, the researcher used two classes, the first as an experimental class that received special treatments that taught English through communicative translation, and the second was a control class that did not use communicative translation.

The Operational Definitions of Variables

Test

It means that a test is one of the instruments to measure the basic skills and performance of the students. In addition, the writer used test as a data collection method to measure both variables. The research measures the student's translation performance by taking a translation performance test using communicative texts.

An achievement test is a test used to measure someone's achievement after learning something.

Documentation

To know the result of the test, the researcher used the level of the test, from pretest to posttest. The researcher used the documentation to obtain detailed information on the communicative translation method, translation success and status of the State Islamic Collage (STAIN) Jurai Siwo Metro.

Description of Research Setting a. STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro

The English Education Study Program (PBI) is one of the Strata 1 (S1) majors of the Tarbiyah faculty and ranked as the most preferred major among other majors in the State Islamic College (STAIN) Jurai Siwo Metro. The vision of PBI lies in "creating professional students in English education who are able to integrate with Islamic values and the academic dimension". To stay in the theoretical knowledge, the basic mastery applied in the form of ethics of professionalism.

The Result of the Student’s Pre-Test

Based on the graph above, it can be seen that the result of the pre-test of class D (experiment class) is as follows: there is 1 student who gets the minimum score which is 20.0, there is 1 student who gets the maximum score which is 60, 0, and the average score was 39.7. Frequency distribution as the result of pre-test in the fifth semester (experiment class) on the translation performance of students. Based on the frequency distribution table above, it can be deduced that most students (44 students) scored lower than 60.

This shows that the result of the students' translation performance in the pre-test was not satisfactory. The result of the pre-examination of the students in the control lesson can be found as follows. Fifth Semester Pre-Examination Result (Control Class) for Translating Performance of State Islamic College Metro v.

Based on the above data, it can be seen that the result of the fifth semester pre-test (control class) is as follows: there are 2 students who get the minimum score, which is 45.0 and there are 1 student who get the maximum score achieves, namely 85 .0 and the average score was 61.0. Frequency distribution as the result of a pre-test in the fifth semester (control class) for the translation performance of students of the Islamic State. Based on the frequency distribution table above, it can be deduced that most students (27 students) score lower than 60.

Thus, it can be concluded that the translation performance of the students in the control class in the pre-test was higher than the experimental class.

The Result of The Students Post-Test

Source: Students scored in the post-test (Experimental class) using the communicative translation method on November 7, 2013. Based on the graph above, it can be seen that the result of the post-test of class D (Experimental class) is as follows, there was 1 student who got the minimum score of 60.0, there were 2 students who got the highest score which is 80.0 and the average was 70.4. Frequency distribution as a result of the post-test in the fifth semester (trial class) according to the translation performance of the country's students.

Based on the frequency distribution table above, it can be concluded that most of the students' scores depend on 60.0. So it means that the treatment with communicative translation method was successful in improving students' translation performance. Fifth Semester Post-Test Result (Control Class) For Translation Performance of Students of Metro State Islamic College in.

Source: The post-test (control class) students' score on the students' translation performance on November 7, 2010. Based on the above data, it can be seen that the result of the B-grade post-test (control class) ) is as follows: there were 10 students who achieved the minimum score which was 60.0, there were 3 students who achieved the maximum score which was 80.0 and the mean score was 66.9. Frequency distribution as the result of a fifth semester posttest (control class) for the translation performance of students of the Islamic State.

It could therefore be deduced that the result in the experimental class score is higher than the control class score.

The Influence of Using Communicative Translation Method toward The Student’s Translation Performance Student’s Translation Performance

The data of the results of validation differences between the experimental class and the control class will be used in the t-test formula to ascertain. Student's Translation Performance in the Fifth Semester of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro English Education Study Program. Communicative translation method positively and significantly affects student's translation performance in the fifth semester of English Education Study Program of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the academic year 2013/2014.

The communicative method of translation does not have a positive and significant effect on the student's translation performance in the fifth semester of the English education study program STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the academic year 2013/2014. This means that the communicative method of translation has a positive and significant effect on the student's translation performance in the fifth grade. The aim of this research was to determine whether the communicative method of translation can influence the student's translation performance.

The result of this research shows that communicative translation method has a positive and significant influence on the student's translation performance. This research also clarified that the theory of the influence of communicative translation on the students' translation performance was applied in the fifth semester of the English Education Study Program of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the academic year of 2013/2014. In other words, the result of the research may differ on the other educational institutions.

The uniqueness of each student also becomes a determining factor that causes the difference in research results in the other educational institutions.
