School was very difficult for me. When I started, I didn’t know my ABCs, and I struggled with math. Making friends was also hard because I was shy and unsure of myself. Things began to change when Friends of the Children–Boston chose me to join their program. They helped me with my studies and gave me chances to try new things.
Three years ago, I met Jesse, one of my mentors. He supported me when I wanted to join a program to build my own bike. Riding a bike seemed impossible because of my breathing problems, but I wanted to be healthier and more independent. With Jesse’s help, I finished the program and even became a youth cycling instructor.

Climate change means big changes in the weather and temperature over a long time.
Today, most changes are caused by people. Burning coal, oil, and gas makes gases like carbon dioxide (CO₂) and methane (CH₄). These gases trap heat in the air and make the Earth hotter. This is called global warming.
Climate change is dangerous. The ice in cold places is melting, and the sea is getting higher.
This is a problem for people living near the sea. There are also more strong storms, floods, and dry seasons. Animals and plants are losing their homes, and some may go extinct.
We need to work together to stop climate change. We can use clean energy like the sun and wind, save energy, and protect forests. Farmers can use better ways to grow food.
