INTRODUCTION

Background

Writing is not only developing ideas on paper, but also carefully following the rules of the writing process. Especially in Junior High School, writing is taught together with the other three language skills.

Problem Statement

The videos that will be used as teaching materials are from Falidazia Hasanah Channel, Leni Indriyani Channel, Arsa San Channel and Ana Ajeng Choirunnisa Channel on YouTube. From the above explanation, the researcher wants to explore video as a media in teaching English, especially in writing procedural texts in a study entitled “The use of instructional video on YouTube as an alternative media for teaching procedural text writing to ninth grade class of students of SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Makassar in academic year 2020/2021”.

Objective of Research

The second title is “Effectiveness of instructional video towards writing achievement in procedural text of class IX students in SMP Terpadu Darur Roja' Selokajang Srengat Blitar written by Binti Maratus Sholihah. Improvement of students' writing skills in pre-test and post-test The improvement of students' writing skills in the form of content and organization can be seen through the category average score in pre-test and post-test. This meant that there was a significant difference between students' writing skills in terms of content and organization before and after using the video tutorial method.

This was supported by the average score and the total score, also the percentage of the students' improvement from the pre-test and post-test result. Based on the findings of the students' score, the average score of writing skills in procedural text in terms of content pre-test was 39. The table 4.2 indicated that the students' content in post-test was higher than in the pre-test. (77>39).

The explanation above indicates that the effect of tutorial video method can improve the students' writing skills in the form of content. The table 4.3 indicated that the students' organization in the post-test was higher than in the pre-test (76.7>39). The explanation above indicates that the use of tutorial video method can improve the students' writing skills in the form organization.

Significance of Research

Scope of the Research

Then, the researcher provided treatment by implementing the use of instructional video technique to improve students' ability in writing procedural texts. The findings of the study presented the research on students' writing skills in procedural texts that covered the students' content and organization, and the discussion of the study included further explanation of the findings. The description of the data collected from the students' writing procedure text in the form of content and organization, as explained in the previous section, showed that the students' writing skills had improved.

Based on the above result, it can be concluded that teaching procedural text writing both in form, content and organization, the YouTube tutorial video used was effective and could improve the student's procedural text writing ability. Fitri Sumarnis' research concluded that using a tutorial video can improve students' writing skills in a process text. Based on the researcher's findings and discussion in the previous chapter and considering the results of the research, the researcher came to the conclusion that the use of tutorial video on YouTube was effective in improving students' writing ability in the process text, especially in terms of content and organization.

The type of writing system used in the local language plays a key role in determining how easy it is for students to learn to write. The procedure text is a series of steps that must be performed in the correct order to achieve the goal. Teaching media are tools that help teachers improve the teaching-learning process in the classroom and assist in the transfer of knowledge to students.

The benefits of media, according to Humalik in Sukiman, include capturing attention in the learning process to improve motivation and repeating the learning process to make it more enjoyable. There are several advantages associated with the use of media in the teaching-learning process, according to Sudjana and Rifai in Sukiman (2012:43). Based on the above description, the researcher decided to use videos to teach students in the classroom how to write procedural text during the teaching learning process.

Different teacher media can motivate students to learn and create a pleasant learning atmosphere in the classroom. Children can learn about body language from action in the video because it involves activity.

Research Design

Population and Sample

The researcher chose class IX as the sample for this research as the researcher found that the problems faced by the students in the class were close to the problems explained in the background of the study.

Pre-test was given before implementing the use of tutorial video in pre-study to know the students' competence in writing procedural text. The researcher gave the same test as the pre-test, which was procedural text test. Posttest was done after implementing the use of tutorial video technique in teaching writing procedure text.

Procedure of Collecting Data

The researcher explained how to write and what should be the content of the procedure text, such as the purpose, material and steps in the procedure text. The researcher then gave the students the video "How to make iced milk tea", How to make fried rice, and then advised them to watch it and ask for attention. The researcher invited the students to recreate the scenario in their own way after watching the video.

After the students finished writing, they discussed it and then wrote the appropriate answer. The last, the researcher re-administered the last with post-test given to the students. The researcher used the video "How to make delicious fruit salad" as the post-test, which provided instructions and a topic, and to produce procedural text in their own words.

The Technique of Data Analysis

From the above explanation, the researcher concluded that the scoring criteria are shown below: Finding out the significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test by calculating the value of the test.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS

Findings

The percentage and frequency of students' written content Table 4.2 Rate the percentage of students' written content. The table shows that in the preliminary test of 18 students, there were no students who were excellent, very good and good in terms of substantive writing skills. Meanwhile, in the posttest of 18 students, there were no students who had become poor in content writing skills.

This shows that in the pretest of 18 students, there were no students who were excellent, very good and good in the form of organization of writing skills. Based on the organization, 2 (11%) of the students were classified as fair and of the students as poor.

Discussion

This finding from the instructional video on YouTube was one of the good methods in learning to write procedural texts. 34;The use of instructional video in learning to write procedure text (an experimental study among the second graders of SMPN 8 Darussalam)". Provide a video about the procedure text and ask the students to write the procedure text on the topics from the video.

The students are then asked to read the procedural text they have created in front of the class. Students then identify the purpose of communication, structure and linguistic elements in the procedural text.
