The CBC (Central Kids) children's ministry was one of the busiest ministries in the church. 4 See Appendix 1 for an explanation of the Baxter pastoral model and the Family Devotion Box system. Here the purpose of the apostolic parousia is seen in this passage.

Conversion is the first of the two primary goals of Richard Baxter's method of pastoral care (i.e., individual catechesis). William Black, Richard Baxter and the Ideal of the Reformed Pastor (Milton Keynes, England: Paternoster, 2004), 88. A Baxter model of pastoral care and theological education seeks to teach biblical content while attempting to spiritually mold the learner.

As the effect of the Baxter model of pastoral care on parental perceptions and practices was evaluated, the third objective of this project was achieved. These two questions relate to the view of the parent of the church's role in the families. As the effect of the Baxter model of pastoral care on parental perceptions and practices was evaluated, this third objective was achieved.

The third weakness of the project was the use of the Family Discipleship Perceptions and Practices Survey.5 The survey focused on discipleship practices and perceptions. I hope to extend the fruit of this project to the care of all ages in the congregation.

CHALLENGE CARDS

The following sheets were used by devotional coaches when they had conversations with the children assigned to them. The following checklist was used to assess family perceptions and discipleship practices of members and visitors to the children's ministry at Central Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky. You are required to allow a minor or member of a vulnerable group under your legal supervision to participate in a study designed to measure or.

All information provided will be kept strictly confidential and at no time will a person's name be published or a person's name identified by their responses. Participation in this study is completely voluntary and the person to whom you are giving consent to participate in this study may withdraw from the study at any time. By signing below, you are giving your informed consent for the selected minor or member of a vulnerable population to participate in this research if they wish to do so.

If your children are too young to participate in an activity that is described, please honestly assess what you anticipate doing when your children are old enough to participate. For the purposes of this survey, "church leaders" include pastors, elders, ministers, deacons, teachers, or small group leaders. The following survey is copied from The Family Ministry Field Guide by Timothy Paul Jones and used with permission.1.

Parental Perceptions

Parental Practices

A panel of three experts in family/child discipleship evaluated the viability of the Baxter model of pastoral care and whether it can be effectively practiced with technological advances in communication. The focus I see here is on memory and repetition of the Bible story and Big Picture questions. The use of the Gospel Project, which is already a great use of technology and helps in.

Perhaps encourage the children to pray before remembering, watching videos, or. The weekly check-ins are great ways to build relationships and assess understanding of the lesson. If they just click the icons (I assume they do) that will be fun and engaging.

Not explicitly but it sounds like it is the case; especially if the curriculum does a good job of presenting the gospel and asking for response, and the dedicated coaches and children's pastor do the same in their encounters with students. Still curious about the shape of the material and the different roles of dedicated coaches and the children's pastor. While the ministry plan focuses on the key truths about the Bible story and Big Picture Questions, I would consider adding a question that applies this truth to the child's world, helping them develop the necessary skills to see the world through a Understanding scriptural lens.

Most ministry coaches would naturally lead from questions about the Bible story to pastoral care conversations; however, this is not explicitly stated in the plan. The child will be involved in Bible reading, prayer, memorizing Scripture, and more which will all lead to the third aspect of the model: spiritual growth. The following are the pre- and post-survey sums of both discipleship perceptions and discipleship practices.

The following interview questions were used with the five families that showed the greatest increase between pre- and post-survey on the Family Discipleship Perceptions and Practices Survey.

Big Picture Questions

October – Why did Jesus perform miracles? Jesus performed miracles to glorify God, to show He is the Son of God, and to care for people

November – Why did God create people? God created people to worship Him, love Him and show His glory

December – How does the Holy Spirit help Christians? The Holy Spirit comforts us, shows us our sin, and guides us as we live for God’s glory

Desires of the Heart Questions

Has anything happened recently that you wish did not happen?

Has anything happened that you were really happy about? OR What would make you really, really happy?

What is something your parents asked you to do today or yesterday, BUT you did not want to do? What did you want to do instead?

This project sought to effectively use modern technological advances in communication to implement Richard Baxter's model of pastoral care with families of children (ages 5-11) at Central Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky. Then the concept of the apostolic parousia is examined as a model for the use of technology in the preparation of pastoral visits.
