Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alamin. First of all, the writer would like to express his gratefull to the lord Allah swt. The highest and the master of the universe while the creator of the everything in this world who still lend the writer good health, blessing, mercy so he can finish this thesis. Salam and Salawat always be sent to the prophet Muhammad saw. Peace be upon him. Who has guided us from uneducated person to be educated person.

This wonderful time, the writer wants to thank a lot to all people who have supported and helped her in finishing her thesis as effective as she can. She realizes that whitout their support and help, she could not be able to finish this “Thesis”. This opportunity, the writer would like to express very especial thanks to her beloved parents and family who have given an endless love, advice, support and praying to be success students ever.

ABSTRACT

Evatul Jannah Mustahat.

The Using Of Fix Up Strategy in Reading Skill at M.Ts.P.P Yasrib Lapajung Soppeng, (Supervised by Wahyu Hidayat and Abdul Haris Sunubi).

Fix Up strategy referred to a strategy which readers search backward and sometimes forward in a text to remove a meaning blockage encountered while reading. The purpose of this research is to find out the students reading skill by using fix up strategy at M.Ts.P.P Yasrib Lapajung Soppeng, The result of this study are beneficial for lecturers and students because they will get proper information about students reading quality and it can be a reference to find out a suitable methodology in learning process.

The sample of this study is 150 by total sampling technique. The researcher conducted the research by Ex post Facto design. The data collecting technique by documentation.

The data was analized by used descriptive (Mean, Standard Deviation and Grafic) and Hypotesys test (T –Test) while supported with Jamovi software, the result of the research showed the student’s reading skill was categorized as good which Mean total 90.97 and SD total 4.74, while the differentiate quality between class and gender showed T-test 0,759 and P = 0,452. In result, the fix up strategy is able to be alternative strategy for teaching reading.
