This study aims to determine the increase in activeness and learning outcomes of students by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model.

The teacher conveys the objectives, the main points of learning, carries out group discussions, exercises questions, provides learning motivation and conclusions on the subjects of English class XI IPA 4 students of SMAN 25 Bandung. This research is a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle held two meetings starting with the action planning stage, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of action and reflection. The data collection method is done by observation / observation.

Data analysis was carried out by comparing the test results in cycle 1 and cycle 2 with descriptive techniques. This means that the data obtained in this study are presented as they are then analyzed descriptively to get a picture of the facts and describe them according to the phenomenon.

Meanwhile, to measure student achievement using the class average system on the evaluation results of each cycle. The results showed that the achievement and learning activities of class XI IPA 4 students of SMA N 25 Bandung in the learning of the English language education and training had increased, this was indicated by the results of observations and the results of the English learning achievement tests. With these results, it is concluded that the application of the problem-based learning model can improve student activity and learning outcomes in English lessons at SMAN 25 Bandung.
