SRI WAHYUNI, 2014. The Use of Documentary Film in BBC VCD as an Alternative Media in Improving Students’ Ability In Writing Report under the thesis of English Department the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, Makassar Muhammadiyah University (guided by H. Bahrun Amin and Awalia Azis)
This research aimed to find out whether or not the use of documentary films in BBC VCD as an alternative media can improve the ability of the eleventh grade students in writing report text.
The researcher used pre experimental research. The research had conducted with treatment, where each all consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was done at the Eleventh Grade students of SMA Mahaputra Tello, Makassar with 30 students.
The research instrument was a test, students write a report based on the video according to the teacher explanation and answer some questions based on the video.
The findings indicated that the application of documentary film in BBC VCD were significant to improve the students’ writing report. The students’ writing achievement was proved by the mean score in pretest and posttest. The students’
score in pre-test (37.66) which classified s a poor classification was different from the post-test (77.16) which classified as a good classification. It means that the mean score of the students’ post-test was higher than the mean score of the students’ pre-test. It also was improved significantly. From these findings, the researcher conclude that by using Documentary Film In BBC VCD as an alternative media can improve the students’ ability in writing report.
