AN ERROR ANALYSIS ON UNDERGROUND THESIS WRITTEN BY THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT GRADUATE OF IAIN METRO. The purpose of this research is to analyze (1) prepositional errors on the background of a bachelor's thesis written by the English department graduate of IAIN Metro (2) types of prepositional errors made by the English department graduate of IAIN Metro (3) the factors causing the prepositional errors in the background of the study of an undergraduate thesis written by the English department, a graduate of IAIN Metro. The results of this research are as follows: (1) the English graduate of IAIN Metro made prepositional errors in the background of his senior thesis (2) the types of errors made by the English graduate of IAIN Metro are: additions and malformation. 3) the factors causing preposition errors are intra-language and inter-language development errors, interference, lack of mastery of prepositions and English prepositions having more than one meaning in Indonesian.

Akhirnya, implikasi dari temuan ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Bagi para siswa, penulis mengharapkan para siswa untuk memperkaya pengetahuan mereka, khususnya dalam preposisi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis (1) kesalahan preposisi pada latar belakang skripsi yang ditulis oleh lulusan TBI IAIN Metro (2) jenis kesalahan preposisi yang dilakukan oleh lulusan TBI IAIN Metro (3) faktor penyebab kesalahan preposisi pada latar belakang skripsi yang ditulis lulusan TBI IAIN Metro. Therefore, it is accepted that writing a good study background is one of the criteria necessary to form a qualified bachelor's thesis. Misformation substitution errors have been found. It must be emphasized that background of study is a crucial part of the undergraduate thesis so that the student must reduce the prepositional error. The author would analyze errors in the background of study students of the Department of English for the last five years from 2016 to 2020. To investigate types of prepositional errors in an undergraduate thesis written by the English department of IAIN Metro.

The writer believes that the result of the study will provide some benefits to students, other researchers and lecturers.

Undergraduate work is a key component of your graduate studies, regardless of your discipline or major.

The abstract should be 100 to 200 words to summarize the purpose of your thesis and how you achieved it (what you outlined, created and produced).

The bibliography should list the cited sources in the sequential list of the cited sources alphabetically. Based on the definition according to the expert above, the researcher can conclude that the research background is systematically organized information about problematic phenomena and issues that are interesting to investigate. The purpose of the background is to explain the reasons why the problem in the research wants to be investigated, the significance of the problem, and the approach used to solve the problem both from a theoretical and practical side.

The research background can lead the reader to take after the inquiry about (where the extension is made, the proof and the background elements). Therefore, the researcher can say it as a focus on trust and reality for the topic, other related hypotheses or examine results, a greater adherence to relevant data and the reason for choosing the topic.

Furthermore, a good study background would capture the interest of the audience groups.

RESEARCH RESULT

Description of Research Setting

This research was conducted among students of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the academic year 2014/2015. After observing the university thesis of the students, the writer found prepositional errors in the background of the university research thesis written by the graduate of the department of English at IAIN Metro.

Conclusion

Some wrong prepositions are still found in the background of the study of student's bachelor's thesis written by the English department graduate of IAIN Metro. Most of the graduate students from the English education department in the years from 2016 to 2020 have a lack of prepositional errors. The frequency of prepositional errors found in the background of the study shows that there are 1 error of addition and 87 errors of malformation.

Suggestion
