ABSTRACT

KASMAWATI, 2016. Increasing Students’ Writing Ability by Using Sentence Reconstruction Technique (A Classroom Action Research in Class X.I of SMA Pest. Putri Yatama Mandiri). Supervised by Syamsiarna Nappu and Nunung Anugrawati.

The objective of the research was intended to know the increasing of the students’ vocabulary and language use in writing by Using Sentence Reconstruction Technique at Tenth Grade Students’ of SMA Pest. Putri Yatama Mandiri.

The method of this research was classroom action research consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meetings. It meant that there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at senior high school SMA Pest. Putri Yatama Mandiri for English subject. The subject of this research was class X.I senior high school in 2015-2016 academic year with the number of students was 21 students, all were women. Instruments of the research were writing test and observation.

The finding of the research showed that students’increase writing in term of vocabulary was 6.79 in cycle 1 and then it became 7.95 in cycle 2. The students’writing language use was 6.57 in cycle 1 and it became 8.02 in cycle 2.

Thestudents’participation was 51.80 % in cycle 1 and it became 83.92 % in cycle 2. It could be concluded that teaching English by using Sentence Reconstruction Technique can increasestudents’ writing ability.
