Senate Meeting Minutes- September 23, 2011
I. Called to order at 12:06pm- Ben Judge II. Emergency Resolution 0311- Corey Ariss
a. Health Wellness Center Feasibility Study Resolution b. No discussion
c. Voting results- 23:0:1 d. Resolution passed
III. Chris Yeadon, Director of Dinning Services
a. RSO party tray is available for $60 and serves 10 people
b. Understands that RSO have limited budgets and should use website, http://food.iupui.edu/, as a reference
c. Added value tier to dining options. It has lower price points. Example: At Rio can get 1 taco instead of having to buy 3
d. IUPUI Food Services took over The Corner. It’s now open and has snacky type foods and a grocery component
e. Projects Food Services are working on include: bringing Papa John’s pizza into the food court and getting Chick-fil-a’s spicy chicken sandwich f. IUPUI Food Services is into social media. We have Twitter and Facebook
accounts. Check our website.
1. Henry Davis- Concerns about The Corner prices 2. Chris Yeadon- IUPUI Food Service took over The
Corner at additional cost. Before Housing went to Wal- Mart to pick-up different items and then sold those items at cost. We can’t do that. We not over pricing or out to make lots of profit.
3. Ryan Burke, Director of Civic and Student Engagement, - The Corner was a gathering place. Will it still have that appeal
4. Chris-I don’t know that more of a Housing question 5. Tori Stanley, Circle K,- Are you going to expand Corner

6. Chris- Yes, a plan is in process. We are working with Housing.

7. David Williard, ADAA, - Meal Plan is at $800. Why so expense
8. Chris- We have two meal plans. One at $800 and another at $450. You can buy them at any time.
9. Dheevena Reddy, SOAR,- Are the hours of the food court going to be extended
10. Chris- Right now it closes at 3pm because of less
business. If the traffic in the building changes maybe can stay open later
11. Dheevena- Maybe consider a trial run. Science majors are here late at night
12. Chris-We did do a trail run in Fall 10 and participation wasn’t there. In the trial Outtakes and Chick-fil-a stayed open later
13. Dheevena- People don’t know about the restaurants because they see the door closed. Also in the trial try having all of the restaurants staying open till 7pm.
14. Chris-That would be a great idea. Also looking at to bring food into the Science building
15. Dakota, SCJ,- Are the menus and pricing on the website 16. Chris-Yes
17. Josh, UCSC,-What about having a cafeteria
18. Chris- Can’t get into details options are being explored for the future.
19. Natasha Seitz, USG Vice President,- Talking about how you are working/focusing on customer service
20. Chris- IUPUI Food Services is a part of Service with distinction. We have in-house programs that give awards to associates. Getting feedback is important. There is a section on our website for that.

22. Chris- We want our employees to help people through the food court by holding trays etc. We do have 2 Host of the food court
23. Tony, LASC, - Drinks on the top row of the machine can’t be reached by someone in a wheelchair.
24. Chris- I will check with Coke who provides the coolers.
IV. Approval of Minutes
a. Tony motioned to approve Minutes and David seconded the motion.
b. Minutes are approved V. Open Forum
a. Tony- PRC meeting afterwards
b. Corey- Spots still open at the USG table for the Harvey Milk dinner, sign up if interested
c. Corey-Encourage everyone to sign the Health and Wellness petition VI. Ben Judge adjourned the meeting
