i

am pleased to report that this was a record-setting year for the national FFa Foundation.

on behalf of the 2008 national FFa Foundation sponsors’ board, i extend our heartfelt gratitude to our corporate sponsors and individual contributors, as well as the foundation staff.

together, we raised more than $14 million for the continued success of the blue and Gold legacy. your contributions provide critical funding to sustain the personal and professional development of young men and women from around the country, allowing them to develop valuable leadership skills necessary for future success.

this year our convention theme was “step Up. stand out.” i think FFa students live this every day. they know that when they put on the blue jacket, they represent all of FFa—past, present and future. there is a challenge in pursuing the best in yourself and others, to lead and to serve. the more than 500,000 FFa students in more than 7,400 chapters discover and build themselves through their agricultural education experiences that you as a supporter have made possible. they are finding ways to step up and stand out in their communities today and will continue to do so. these young people will be our future employees and leaders. the future of agriculture and our communities remains bright!

it has been a year of great change and excitement—within FFa, in the United states and around the world. FFa students, advisors and staff will be challenged in the year ahead, but their commitment, the strength of FFa programs, and the support of valued sponsors and new contributors will drive our progress.

During my time as a sponsors’ board member, i have had the remarkable opportunity to work with sponsors, students and staff, all dedicated to the FFa experience. the students of FFa take great pride in their accomplishments in agricultural education and leadership.

they value what FFa sponsors have made possible. i hope you will continue that support.

thank you again for your generous contributions to FFa. you have made a positive impact on the lives of the young men and women of FFa and the future of agriculture.

Ford Trucks celebrated two significant milestones

in 2008: 60 years of sell- ing F-Series Trucks and 60

years of partnership with the National FFA. We are extremely proud of our long-standing relationship

with FFA since 1948, and know that it has contrib- uted to F-Series’ record as America’s best-selling truck

for 32 years running.

With the support of Ford dealers across the country, we have been able to provide

more than $5 million in collegiate scholarships since 1997. Ford Motor Company

is honored to help these students on their path to becoming strong leaders

As we look forward as an industry, our challenges are large; 2.5 billion more people to feed by 2050 and

fewer natural resources available to do it. Monsanto is committed to innovations that help farmers produce and conserve more, as well as improving the lives of those who use our prod- ucts. A key component of our industry’s success will

lie in the development of a sustainable leadership pipeline of young people to take on these challenges.

FFA is best equipped to prepare the next generation

of agriculture leaders and we are proud to champion these efforts through the many programs we support

as a Platinum Sponsor.

Why Support FFa?

t

he mission of the national FFa organization is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth

and career success through agricultural education.

our members—more than 500,000 of them in all 50 states, Puerto rico and the virgin islands—are the

future of the agriculture industry. exposing them to and getting them excited about agriculture now means that in the years to come, they will become vital contributors to the food, fuel, fiber and natural resources that keep america and countries across the globe thriving.

the only way to keep these students involved is to offer programs and incentives that enrich their learning and ignite their agricultural interests. that’s where you come in. Without your generous support,

FFa would not be able to offer the career development events or leadership confer- ences or the curriculum materials that not only teach members the impact agriculture

has on our lives, but also helps build their confidence and leadership skills. and when you’ve got confident, educated people entering the workforce, you can rest assured that the industry of agriculture will continue to grow and flourish.

on behalf of the members, teach- ers and national FFa staff, we thank you, our supporters, for believing in the power and influence of the national FFa organization. each dollar that we receive helps us change students’ lives by opening the doors to a world of possibilities in agriculture. We appreciate all that you do to help students realize their goals and thank you for your continued support.

We thank you, our supporters, for believing in the power and influence

of the National FFA Organization.

would like to thank Dodge trucks and John Deere for their sponsorship of the Forest Products and Management entrepreneurship/Placement national Proficiency award. i was honored to receive the award in 2008, and i assure you that i was able to use the money during my second year of college. there is no way to describe what FFa has done for me. Membership in this organization has made me a more confident and intelligent individual. i have actually been in college business classes and thought to myself, “i learned that back in my high school FFa chapter!” i want to thank the sponsors from the bottom of my heart, and i ask you to continue making the differences you have made in my life. your contribu- tion goes to an organization that helps the youth of our nation become well-rounded adults and better citizens.

At New Holland, we’re proud to have sponsored FFA for the past 60 years.

There’s no organization like it in terms of provid- ing outstanding leadership training and opportunities for youth. Many of our valued customers and some

of our finest employees have proudly worn the FFA jacket. We feel our contributions to FFA are an important investment in

our future customers and employees, as well as in the

future of agriculture.

t first glance, observers might see FFa as simply an organization that goes hand-in-hand with agricultural education.

While the organization definitely has its

“roots” in agriculture, a closer look reveals that FFa not only focuses on the impor- tance, value and future of the agriculture industry, but it also places a

strong emphasis on develop- ing the leadership potential of its members.

Whether they serve on committees, are elected chapter officers, or even become state or national officers, all members are encouraged to take on leader-

ship roles. this is largely accomplished through class work and programs, but because of the generous support of people like you, FFa can offer specialized leader- ship conferences that prepare members for a bright future in agriculture.

one such conference is building leaders and strong teams of officers, or blast off. blast off provides training in life management, presentations, social skills, personal goals and assessment for state officers as they begin their first year of service. the conference helps build the officers’ confidence in leading their state association, and, through the generosity of

sponsors, these eager young leaders are able to attend at virtually no cost to them.

another conference inspiring premier leadership is the national leadership conference for state officers, or nlcso.

the second component of the state FFa officer training continuum, nlcso takes

leadership development to the next level, helping the officers create a team dynamic, deliver and evaluate presentations, and build relationships between local, state and national FFa levels.

the state officer leader- ship continuum is advanced further at the state Presidents’ conference, or sPc. Here two officers from each state gather in Washington, D.c., to explore the heritage of our nation’s capital while inspir- ing and learning from other state leaders and, ultimately, beginning the initial phases of the delegate process. Many times, these leaders go on to become officers of the national FFa organization!

these are only three of the leadership conferences FFa offers to its members.

Without your support, many of these bright, young leaders would never be able to fully recognize their potential. thank you for all you do to ensure their future.

... because of the generous support of people like you,

FFA can offer specialized leadership

conferences that prepare members for
