When the spectators heard that this 20-year-old former Future Farmer was from Springport, Michigan, which was no surprise. Norsita surprised everyone but Leroy to win his first attempt at a state plowing honor. Because his small hometown in south-central Michigan has been 1938 home to three national plowing champions, and each winner was coached by Leroy's father, HughLosey, a local FFA.
It was while attending Springport High School that Leroy developed his desire for personal perfection. Last August, with his father's encouragement, he competed in the Michigan state finals and won hands down.

SteveVanBuren, the Flying Dutchman of the Philadelphia Eagles, was undersized at the time, but he stuck with it.
