Friant says, "Most states will only certify varieties that have been tested by experiment stations and labeled 'superior ." They must be free of noxious weeds and have a high germination rate." Imagine farmers being foolish to spare a youngster or two on bad seed when their costs for preparing the seedbed, fertilizing, planting and cultivating usually run up to $30 .".
Last year, certified seed producers released 68 million pounds of grass seed stock: 89 million pounds of legume seed; nearly 14 million bushels of small grain: and about three million bushels each of corn and sorghum seed. USDA's Agricultural Research Service Seed Products Division offers this recent result: "In Minnesota and Indiana, 21 lots of certified Ranger alfalfa were planted alongside 163 lots of non-certified Ranger. A Nebraska survey revealed that 68 percent of small grain farmers in that state produce their own seed and 25 per cent on neighbors for seed livestock.
Another test showed that seven percent of Georgian farmers used second-generation hybrid seed corn from their own manger for one year.

He broke the world record for deep knee bends with 250 pounds squatting at 900 pounds.
When Paul attended Furman College on a football scholarship, he complained to his parents, "They didn't give me enough to eat!" The coach explained that he would get an answer, but he would have to ask for an additional $15 on the food bill. When he's not training in Atlanta or giving shows around the country, Paul, single, lives with his mom and dad in the small Georgia town of Toccoa. By age 14, he had a pair of dumbbells. "I only used them to keep in shape for football," says Paul, who has been followed by professional football scouts for the past six years.
