WHY ARE WE HERE?

More and more chapters are cashing in on the recreational and educational value of these one- to three-week summer trips. Future farmers spend "out of pocket" money only for souvenirs and other "extras". They use an official school bus, while Mt. Airy Future Farmers borrows a bottled gas stove from the local Lion's Club, finds two ice coolers among the branch members, rents a baggage trailer, and off they go.

And the most successful of these are in the planning phase, shortly after the first school bell tolls. Both Dooley and counselor Harold Thompson of Mt.Airy turned the entire matter over to chapter officers. Experts recommend preparing the house two days before delivery to allow for two square meters of floor space per bird.

This is twice the space needed for commercial growing, soa 10' by 10'' house should not house more than 50 broilers. Make sure the house is clean, properly disinfected and equipped with six inches of floor litter.

Ishardier and can grow in coastal areas and the Piedmont or on the West Coast as far north as the Columbia River. The clump type does well in southern Florida and the Rio Grande Valley, but neither thrives in mountainous areas. A USDA researcher estimates that 10,000 acres of bamboo would sustain a medium-sized pulp mill.

Before this can be attempted, more data on production, use, engineering, and marketing economics are needed. Additional information may be obtained from: The Herty Foundation, Savannah, Georgia; U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington 25, D. Hester displays a plaque honoring 1956 FFA President Dan Dunham, who broke ground on the new FFA building.

The conference was designed to develop FFA leadership at the state and national levels; to exchange leadership ideas between countries; and to demonstrate the workings of the country's capital. At the Jefferson Memorial, with the famous Washington Monument in the background, Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Benson addresses the FFA conference.

HMSHIP CONFERENCE

The patron saint of the FFA, the colonial theatrical brick structure houses the National FUTURE FARMER Magazine and Future Farmers Supply. Oklahoma brought a stone from the Will Rogers Memorial located in the great comedian's hometown of Clare-more. Future South Dakota farmers went to historic Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills for their stone.

One of the first things to remember when shearing sheep is to avoid injury to the animals. Here are a few suggestions to help you get a nicer wool clip while keeping your sheep healthy.

Know How Much To Pay

Know the land: Make sure you're qualified to operate that attractive farm before you pounce on it with a significant amount. Growing peanuts, tobacco, and other crops of the warm-climate cotton belt can be easy for you, as can managing dairy pastures in the cooler northeastern and north central states. But this is no indication that the deep rich soil of the Corn Belt will respond so willingly to your methods.

Either you stay in your area or you are ready to study the new region carefully and accept good advice from others. Consider the costs of rebuilding unproductive land and try to tell the difference between improperly managed land and naturally poor land. The Bureau of Land Management handles most questions, but their selection is overlooked many times.

STOP IN AND SAY HELLO

George Allen, a fullback from Cumberland and now among the inner circle of President Eisenhower's friends, took one hand off and began to fumble. In the 42 years that have passed since that hectic October afternoon in 1916, the game has become a legend of the playing field. 34;It was absolutely the worst football game ever played,” Allen declares with a nostalgic glint in his eye.

This unique classic probably never would have been planned in the first place if Cumberland's basketball team hadn't hit the technology hard the previous spring.

Besides, it is so easy and economical to own Topper or Super-10. Average up to 100 miles per gallon...both can be purchased through easy payment plans that fit your pocketbook. It was the job of quarterback Morris Gouger, now president of the National Bank of Robstown, Texas, to see that there was no confusion. 34;If I wanted to play what our right half back would send through right barrel, I would call 'Turnipover Cabbage'. Ora passes from quarterback to left tackle 'Tomato to carrot.' The problem was that Tech was soon making Irish stew out of our system."

Midway through the second period, Mc- Donald started for Cumberland, and Shaver returned the ball 70 yards to the Cumberland 10.

Today's drivers are very aware of the fact that styles are constantly changing for the better in highways and cars. To do a competent job, the modern driver must be different, simply because modern requirements are different. The truly modern driver considers as immature and antisocial such outdated actions as trying to beat the traffic police, taking the chance to "prove" courage and skill or lack of attention to driving.

You don't have to be a "superman" to drive well, but you always have to be at your best: alert, quick-thinking and well-coordinated. Only the immature and incompetent think they can safely ignore speed limits, "no passing" regulations, stop signs and other traffic controls. They never assume that other drivers or pedestrians will do the right thing—and.

All soil samples were deposited at the base of the building's flagpole, indicating a collection of common goals and common plans for the building. A new day will dawn in agriculture when all farmers have been trained for their profession and learned to work together.

White Sox was rated by the experts as a third-place club in the American League. Much of the credit for their success could be given to the hard-throwing, right-handed pitcher. He was hired by a scout for the Washington Senators as early as 1937 and was outsourced to Sanford in the Florida State League.

After starting 1942 with a record of 10 wins and 16 losses, he bounced back in 1943 to enjoy one of his best seasons with the Senators compiling 18 wins against 12 losses with a very respectable 2.91 earned run average. Then in 1944, he seemed to slip, posting a record of 8 wins against 17 losses, although his 3.38 earned run average showed better performance than his earned run and lost record. It was then that the Senators traded him to the Cleveland Indians, who thought highly of his potential.

Wynn had to pack his bags again after being traded to the Chicago White Sox. Right now, his 266 career hits tie him with the great Bob Feller, a former teammate.

His record as of September 1 stands at 17 wins against only 9 losses with an earned run average of 3.31. With possibly five or six more games to pitch this season, he could record his fifth 20-game season at age 39 with 20 years of major league pitching behind him. At the rate Wynn is going now, he'll likely have several seasons left to rack up enough wins to earn his.

You save fuel - as much as a gallon. You save time - as much as two hours after ten, especially with hard plowing and difficult harvesting. You will pull heavier loads at higher speeds and have more confident than ever control of your tractor. And you'll be able to engage or disengage the PTO power without stopping.
