Start with a challenge, an interesting story, an imaginative situation, or some other form of attracting the audience's attention. It all started on a cool, wet evening in mid-October in the pigsty. Little did James know that in just five short months, this muddy, six-week-old pig would become the 220-pound grand champion. With restrictions on keeping pigs in the John Marshall FFA barns, another member of the John Marshall Chapter.
Since his first blue ribbon at the local Casady Kiwanis-sponsored John Marshall Livestock Show, James has driven his cart ten more times around shows and finally with "the big one" — the Oklahoma 4-H. The purpose of these FFA conference sessions is to improve leadership skills, develop an understanding of national heritage, and prepare. Other conference highlights include visits by individual members with Congressmen on Capitol Hill and a week of engagement with a National FFA Officer.
Dairy cattle, sheep, pigs, beef and goats were airlifted. New FFA members who did not have projects for the show could borrow animals from other members who had extra chairs. The members spent the day washing and grooming their animals in preparation for the judging which started at 19:00 An article was submitted to their local paper asking all residents of Scotland to bring used Christmas trees to a location in town on a date around two weeks after Christmas. Future farmer Perry became interested in this unusual hobby when he was in the eighth grade reading a botany book that discussed plant genetics. When making crosses, Tim looks for certain characteristics of both parents, such as flower color, fruit size, productive yield, and fruit length and overall shape.
Tim built his greenhouse when he discovered that weather conditions often caused damage to his plants in the open field.
