OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION

PART 1:

OVERVIEW, DETERMINING OUTCOMES AND CONSTRUCTIVE ALIGNMENT

Participants will have an overview of how these outcomes should be designed, attained, and assessed.

This workshop will expose participants towards the meaningful orientation of OBE towards enculturation of academic quality within an institution, which is beyond documentation for accreditation. Thus, the aim of this 4-day online workshop is to impart the overall view of OBE, as well as the details in coming up with the different levels of outcomes, and the implementation of Constructive Alignment in course design, so that the participants can later implement OBE in a more holistic manner.

PROGRAMME-LEVEL ASSESSMENT

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND INTRODUCTION TO DOCUMENT PREPARATION FOR ACCREDITATION

19 - 22 APRIL 2021

Assessment of student attainment on the Programme Outcomes is one of the foundations of continuous quality improvement (CQI), and CQI is the heart of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Yet, over a decade of implementation, issues associated with the assessment of Programme or Student Outcomes and CQI are still prevalent among the Institute of Higher Learning (IHLs) in many countries. At the same time, document preparation for accreditation is also a daunting task for IHL. Therefore, participants should acquire as much best practices to optimize productivity.

This 4-day workshop will highlight the importance of developing quality or effective assessments at programme level to provide accurate assessment results and to use the results for CQI. Preparing good quality assessments involves

Participants will be exposed to an overview of the programme assessment methods and processes. The application of the principles of constructive alignment to identify appropriate methods that matches with the intended learning outcomes and the strategy in designing and selecting effective assessment will also be introduce. Next, the role of assessment in CQI will be discussed and several CQI models will be presented. And finally, the participants will be introduced to document preparation for accreditation purposes.
