ARIFUL ARIFIN, 2016. An Analysis on the Speaking Problems Faced by the Third Semester Student of English Departement of Fkip in Muhammadiyah University of Makassar in academic year 2016/2017(A Descriptive Research) under the thesis of English Department the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, Makassar Muhammadiyah University. Guided by Sulfasyah and Yassir Mallapiang.

This research aimed at finding out problems faced by the third semester student of English Departement of Fkip in Muhammadiyah University of Makassar in academic year 2016/2017. The problem statement were the problems speaking faced by the third semester students of English department at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar in academic year 2016/2017 and the factor causes of problem speaking faced by the third semester students of English department at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar in academic year 2016/2017.

This research used a descriptive research. The population of this study is the third semester of English department in academic year 2016/2017. The researcher used Random Sampling Technique and the samples were 20 students. The research instrument used two kinds of questionnaire.

The research findings indicated that problems speaking of the third semester student of English Departement of Fkip in Muhammadiyah University of Makassar in academic year 2016/2017. There were problems students faced in term of pronunciation and vocabulary by the third semester students of English department at Muhammadiyah university of Makassar. From the data, the most factors cause of speaking problem are students’ attitude, students’ motivation and classroom environment.

Based on the research finding, the researcher showed the students’ problem in the third semester of Muhammadiyah University still is pronunciation and vocabulary. The factor caused the problems are students’ attitude, students’

motivation and classroom environment.
