In this case, one of the techniques that teachers can use in teaching is the group work technique. Group work is used at all levels of education, from primary education as a means of learning at all levels in most education systems, from compulsory to higher education. The main purpose of group work in educational practice is to serve as a stimulus for learning.

For example, it is believed that students involved in a group activity should learn something. Meanwhile, Richards & Lockhart (1996) state that "group work is considered to be one of the important factors in improving students' communication and participation in the classroom". Frykedal (2011: 3) states that group work is a way of organizing activities in the classroom, where students are given a group task by the teacher and where the equality and mutuality of the participants depends on how they participate in the group task, i.e.

While Harsey in Janna (2019: 7) says that „‟group work activities are a process or activity done in a group that the. Based on the definition above, it can be concluded that group work is something that is usually done by students, either in carrying out assignments or discussing the material they are learning. In addition, group work in its application required the teacher to classify students equally in terms of non-favorability.

Short-term group work is an activity that lasts only about 15 minutes and aims to discuss specific issues. 2) Prolonged group work. Long-term group work is an activity carried out with a sufficient time and duration such as 2 days, a week, a month or even more depending on the number of tasks to be completed students Mohtar in Janna (2019). According to Nugroho (2013), Janna (2019) argues that mixed group work is an activity performed by dividing the group according to the learning ability of the students.

In order for group work to achieve its goal, teachers must pay attention and provide tasks or learning activities that are suitable for the learning abilities of each group, and then each task is organized so that each group can work alone without the help of others. or teachers. Cottrell (1999) states in Abdullah's work that "work in which groups of students deal with the same and even common problem does not necessarily guarantee a group work process". Therefore, the participation of each student determines the result of group work to achieve the desired goals.
