Definition of Error
According to Jeremy Harmer, errors are part of the learner's language which is a version of the language a learner has at each stage of development and which is constantly reshaped as he/she works towards full mastery. According to Brown, “an error is a noticeable deviation from the adult grammar of a native speaker that reflects the learner's interlinguistic competence.
Type of Error
The learner commits errors in pronunciation, morphological syntax, and vocabulary by selecting the wrong phoneme, morpheme, structure, or vocabulary item.

Mentalist theory claims that errors are inevitable because they reflect different stages in the learner's language development. Intralingual errors are errors due to misunderstanding of the language being learned (L2), regardless of native language.

Error analysis is the process based on the analysis of the learner's error in their process of second language learning. In this sense, error analysis is part of the methodology of psycholinguistic research into language learning.
Procedure of Error Analysis
The fourth step is the assessment of errors in which the teachers will give the task to the students. Finally, the last step is the analysis process is the error correction where the teacher checks the result from the task done by the students.
Surface Strategy Taxonomy
Error of omission can be recognized if there is something that is not followed in the correct sentence.
Difference Between Error and Mistake
While mistakes are a marked departure from a native speaker's mature grammar and reflect the learner's ability. Most teachers are perfectly capable of describing typical student mistakes that pass through their hands.

Abstract
And the thesis abstract can help here, in this post-middle stage of work, by acting as a working summary of the argument and the various argumentative "moves" you make in each chapter. It's not the blurb on the back of the book—it's not necessarily a sales pitch. In most disciplines, abstracts spend most of the word budget on the problem and/or research questions and then on the results.
They do not do an extensive trawl of the methodology and methods, this is left to the actual dissertation.
Research Setting
Source: Documentation from IAIN Metro in the academic year of the General Office. To highlight the importance of English, IAIN Metro creates some jargons to represent the college, and one of the jargons was bilingual. This shows that IAIN Metro considers English as an essential key to participate in international communication.
The second policy showing the importance of English in IAIN Metro was the inclusion of English in courses in all departments in addition to the English department in the college.

The frequencies of Occurence of the student gramatical errors based on surface Strategy Taxonomy
Then the writer calculated the mistakes made by students and put them in a table he had prepared. The data derived from the student's thesis summary showed that there were 125 errors in the summary they wrote. It can be assumed that the highest error rate is the omission type covering 64% or 30.76% of the error.
