THE EFFECT OF USING A SELF-REGULATED LEARNING STRATEGY ON STUDENTS' READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY IN EIGHTH SCHOOL STUDENTS MTs AL-ASROR SEKAMPUNG. The purpose of this research was to implement a self-regulated learning strategy and analyze its impact on students' reading comprehension ability when reading a text in the eighth graders of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung. This means that self-regulated learning strategy can influence the students' reading comprehension ability in MTs Al-Asror Sekampung eighth graders.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengimplementasikan strategi self-regulated learning dan menganalisis pengaruhnya terhadap keterampilan membaca siswa kelas VIII (delapan) MTs Al-Asror Sekampung.

Therefore, the researcher would use self-regulated learning to influence reading comprehension ability in the eighth grade of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung. Does the use of self-regulated learning strategy have any positive and significant impact on the reading comprehension ability of students in the eighth grade of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung?‖. The objectives of this study are to know if there is a positive and significant impact of the use of self-regulated learning on the reading comprehension ability of students in the eighth grade of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung.

As information for the English teacher, especially in MTs Al- Asror Sekampung in providing guidance self-regulated learning strategy is effective to be used in teaching reading comprehension ability.

We can conclude that intensive reading is a reading activity aimed at obtaining specific information about the text. It is done by predicting what is in the text, which involves using prior knowledge. From the above statements, it can be emphasized that basic knowledge or prior knowledge is an important factor that affects the reader's reading comprehension ability in constructing the meaning of the text, in which the more knowledge the readers activate, the easier it is for the reader to understand. the text.

It is the reason why background knowledge and motivation are related to each other as one to deepen the understanding of the text.

So this means that the teacher has to control, support also motivate their students to become self-regulated learning more self-confidence. Based on the paradigm above, if students' scores showed good, there was a positive and significant influence of self-regulated learning strategy on students' reading comprehension ability. However, if students' scores were poor, there was no positive and significant influence, so students' reading comprehension would fall into the poor category.

Hypothesis Formulation

Alternative hypothesis (Ha): There is a positive and significant influence of self-regulated learning on the reading comprehension of students in the eighth grade of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung. Null hypothesis (Ho): There is no positive and significant influence of self-regulated learning on the reading comprehension of students in the eighth grade of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung. If = Fo > Ft Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. If = Fo< Ft Ha is rejected and Ho is accepted.

RESEARCH METHOD

Research Design

After that, the researcher conducted a post test to measure if there is any positive and significant influence after treatment was given. Therefore, the author concludes that this research was quantitative research because this research used the numerical number taken from the students.

Anne said that "observation means that the researcher becomes able to systematically document and reflect on interactions and events in the classroom as they actually occur, rather than as we think they occur."70 This means that observation is necessary to know the student's skills or behavior before providing treatment. The author used this method to get data information about the teacher's use of self-regulated learning strategy and the condition of teachers, students' learning facilities and location sketch of the school, staff. In order to investigate there is an influence of self-regulated learning on students' reading comprehension skills in students at MTs Al-Asror Sekampung, the writer will analyze the data by using t-test.71. To measure students' reading comprehension, the author used the pretest before giving treatment.

Students' reading comprehension pre-test score in eighth graders of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung. It was good to know from the results of those tests how the use of a self-regulated learning strategy affected the students' reading comprehension. To find out whether there is a positive and significant influence of using a self-regulated learning strategy on students' reading comprehension in the eighth graders of MTs Al-Asor Sekampung East Lampung.

The critical value of ―χ2observed‖ was 13.38. The conclusion was that the use of self-regulated learning strategy can affect students' reading comprehension ability of eighth graders of MTs Al-Asor Sekampung. The variables were tested using the formula of Chi-square and T-test to investigate whether there is a positive and significant influence of using self-regulated learning strategy on students' reading comprehension ability of the eighth graders at MTs Al-Asror Sekampung. Based on the analysis of the research data, the researcher in this research concludes that self-regulated learning as a strategy was an alternative strategy that can affect students' reading comprehension ability.

This means that there was a positive and significant Self-regulated learning strategy on the students. The teacher gives the students a reading text and then the students analyze the text. The instrument was used to measure the reading of students who had a person or group is test. In this technique, the data is taken from the observation list for everything that happened during the teaching process, which are related to the teacher's treatment of the students, which method the teacher used and how the process worked.

Data Analysis Technique

Brief history of the establishment of MTs Al-Asror Sekampung MTs Al-Asror Sekampung is located in Sumbersari on the street Pon-Pes Desa Darul Ma'arif Sumbersari district in Sekampung which is located directly next to agricultural land and the community's rice fields. MTs Al-Asror Sekampung has teachers and officers from different universities and also from different levels of education. The researcher has formulated the alternative hypothesis (Ha) as: “there is a positive and significant influence of using self-regulated learning strategy can affect students' reading comprehension ability of eighth graders of MTs Al-Asor Sekampung.

This research result was conducted in MTs Al-Asor Sekampung in eighth graders on the influence of the use of self-regulated learning strategies on students' reading comprehension.

In this research there are two variables, independent variable is Self-Regulated Learning Strategy (X), dependent variable is Reading Comprehension Ability (Y). By using self-regulated learning as a strategy, the students learn new experience in studying English. Using self-regulated learning in reading instruction made it easier for students to build their motivation for reading English text.

Furthermore, self-regulated learning can be a solution for the teacher to teach students reading comprehension, students will be more active in the learning process. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Conclusion

After analyzing the data using the t-test formula, the researcher found that the critical value of the observed is 9.25. In addition, after analyzing the data using the chi-square formula, the researcher found that the observed critical value is 𝝌𝟐13.38. In addition, the data confirms that 𝝌𝟐 was observed higher than 𝝌𝟐table or can be written as 5.991.

It means there was a significant influence. Therefore, it can be concluded that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. The fact shows that there was change in the number of students who got the low score and the high score.

Suggestion

Materi pokok : Teks deskriptif lisan dan tulis, pendek dan sederhana, tentang manusia, binatang dan benda. Makassar adalah ibu kota provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia, dan kota terbesar di pulau Sulawesi.
