Alhamdulilah, the researcher expressed many thanks for the gratitude to Allah SWT for blessing and mercy on the Writer during the process to the completed writing of this thesis. In writing this proposal, the author encountered many problems, so the author realized that the thesis has many errors and weaknesses. My highest appreciation is also due to UmmiKhaeratiSyam, S.Pd.,M.Pd as the head of English Department.
Sincerely and best wishes to Erwin Akib, M.Sc. Ph.D., Ph.D. as Dean of FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The objectives of the research were to discover the teacher's strategies to overcome the speaking problem at SMPN 2 Pangkajene. The researcher used observation, interview and tape recorder as research instruments, the data was qualitative.
The result of the research, which showed the strategies used, were inquiry strategies related to the expository method, and in addition, vocabulary memorization methods from 5 to 10 were used in the learning process. The problems students face in speaking are the lack of vocabulary and factors of students' unfamiliarity with the use of English. Tujuan dari peresinikan ini adalah untuk mengethait strategisti guru dalam kelansari problema bibarbara di SMPN 2 Pangkajene.
Background
Lecturers need strategies to ensure that all students are able to master speaking skills. It is consistent with what Khamkhien in his research states that the lecturer as a facilitator in the classroom, makes a classroom interactive and the lecturer needs time to prepare materials for the interactive classroom. In addition, the teacher must be able to relate the topics in the materials to what students already know in their language skills, personal lives, and real-world situations.
In the process of reflection, the lecturer must be able to identify the problems faced by the student. Conversely, choosing an inappropriate learning strategy will certainly affect the less effective and beneficial learning that takes place. Inquiry Learning Strategy Inquiry Learning Strategy (SPI) is a set of learning activities that emphasize the process of critical and analytical thinking in order to find and find answers to a given problem.
With regard to the impact or benefits of using a strategy that is a learning strategy that emphasizes the development of cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects in a balanced way so that learning through this strategy is perceived as more meaningful, space can be provided for students to learning according to their learning style, a strategy considered in line with the development of modern learning psychology, consider learning as a process of change of behavior and experience. Another advantage is that this learning strategy can meet the needs of students with above-average skills.

Sometimes its implementation takes a long time, so that the teacher often has difficulty adapting it to the specified time. It turns out that this will be a weakness in the role-playing method if the teacher, mentor or coach does not properly understand the steps involved in implementing the role-playing method. The following discussion explains the steps to be taken by the teacher in the role play.
The teacher gives an explanation to students about the competencies - competencies they want to achieve through role-playing activities. The teacher asks each group to arrange and present the conclusions based on the scenario played by the other groups. In this last step, the teacher gives conclusions from role play activities carried out with students.
Scenarios are an important part of the role play and should be prepared as best as possible by the teacher. In addition, this method is used to see to what extent students understand the material provided by the teacher. Each student should also be active, without waiting for the teacher to ask questions.
As we already know, asking questions is one way to find out to what extent students can receive information conveyed by the teacher. In addition, the role of the teacher in giving lessons and understanding to students can go better. The use of objects or tools can make it easier for each student to understand the material presented by the teacher.
By using this demonstration method, each student can easily understand the material by remembering what the teacher has conveyed. Using this method, but a teacher not mastering the material well, can cause problems. Because the teacher is not able to explain the material properly. It may even be that the students do not pay attention to the material that the teacher has provided.
The teacher explains the problems they face along with their formation and invites active students to contribute their thoughts. The teacher/group leader and other participants try to complete the agreed alternative problem solving points.

Research Variable
Based on the observation, researchers saw that students who lacked enthusiasm for learning were the ones who had barriers in speaking to overcome these problems with various strategies or methods, one of the strategies to overcome speaking problems was to use memorized vocabulary methods use, in the process of learning English, the teacher asks students to memorize vocabulary 5 to 10 at each meeting. Expository was a method that was often also used by teachers, it was proven when researcher observed researchers see that when the learning process starts the teacher explains the topic or material to be transferred, the teacher also gives examples of how to do the given task to do . After the teacher explained the topic or learning material, students were given assignments to do and they were expected to ask questions when they did not understand the assignments given, in the learning process students were very active.
Although this method focused on student activities, the teacher still plays an important role as a designer of learning experiences. Sometimes the teacher has to explain, guide the discussion, form groups, give instructions, ask the questions, give comments and suggestions to the students. In making observations, the researcher came to the conclusion that the strategies used by the teacher to overcome speaking difficulties used not only the memorized vocabulary method, but also the inquiry learning method. The use of these strategies was evident throughout the learning process and the students were very active. role in the learning process, all activities of the students were aimed at seeking and finding answers themselves to something entrusted to them.
K found that the problem students experienced when speaking was students' lack of interest in learning because they had less vocabulary. Some of their students wanted to appear in public or appear confident or speak in public, but it was difficult to express this because they couldn't. masters the vocabulary, from these problems the teacher applies a strategy to overcome the problems of students in the classroom with inquiry related to the explanatory method. Strategy inquiry was a method that emphasized students to think critically in search of and find their own problems. The thinking process itself was usually carried out by the question-and-answer process by the teacher and the students themselves, while the explanatory book was a teaching method that was used. by providing advance information on the definitions and concepts of the subject. K also applies the strategy when the learning process takes place. Students were expected or required to memorize 5 to 10 vocabulary words. Students were also expected to have conversations with friends to get better trained in speaking English, regarding weaknesses of inquiry learning. Sometimes in its implementation , it takes a long time, so the teacher was a bit difficult to adjust it to the predetermined time.
Inquiry learning requires high intelligence of the students, if the students are less intelligent, the learning results are less effective, the teacher also had to change the learning habits, which are generally like informants, to be accelerators, motivators and mentors to the students in learning. According to Sumantri, the inquiry method was a way of presenting lessons that gives students the opportunity to search for information with or without the teacher's help. Although this method focused on student activities, the teacher still has an important role as a designer of the learning experience.
Sometimes the teacher needs to explain, guide the discussion, give instructions, ask questions, make comments and suggestions to the students. Based on the above theory, it was very much related to the research results that I got, the strategies that Mr. R was Inquiry learning strategies with exposure and also used methods or strategies that entice students in the learning process to remember 5 to 10 vocabulary words, so they mastery of students'. vocabulary increased related to inquiry learning method, which is the teacher explains the material to be given, then the students are formed into a group to do the given task, the teacher, after being given the task, the students were expected to discuss with the classmates and then present the results of the tasks . So, in this chapter summarizes the kinds of students' speaking problems and the teacher strategies to overcome speaking problems at SMPN 2 Pangkajene.
Answer: "The condition of students in the class is very conducive and some were also less enthusiastic to take English lessons due to lack of vocabulary in English owned by students." As for the disadvantages, if you use the investigation strategy of the time that was widely used and was difficult to apply when there were many students, strategy investigation was also difficult to apply when the teacher did not master the class.
