Kinberg (2007:26) writes that Frayer Model Strategy is a strategy that focused on a graphic organizer that students use to help them understand the meaning of concept they are learning and distinguish that concept from others they know or learn. It means that, this strategy helps students in understanding a concept or content of the lesson after they learned it.

Procedure of Frayer Model Strategy

In teaching reading process, the teacher should have some procedures to manage the students in the class.

Urquhart (2012:103) explains that there are some procedures of Frayer Model Strategy:

1. Assign the concept or word from the text to be studied

2. Explain all of the attributes of the Frayer Model to be completed.

3. Model for students using the Frayer Model with an easy word or concept from a familiar text.

4. Have students work in pairs and complete their model diagram using the assigned or word. Students may enjoy

(5)

constructing their diagram with chart paper and markers or with a computer graphics software program.

5. Once the diagram is complete, have students share their work with other students

Advantages of Frayer Model Strategy

Frayer Model strategy is a good strategy that teachers can apply in learning reading process. This strategy will give advantages for students in learning process. According to Adlit (2008:1) the advantages of Frayer Model Strategy are:

build connections among new concepts and creates a visual reference by which students learn to compare attributes and examples.

Defenition of Greet and Go Strategy

4. After 5 minutes (or so), students return to their small group (if assigned) to

(6)

make prediction about the content if the upcoming assigned text or lesson.

5. Call on each individual student to share their predictions and explain their reasoning.

Advantages of Greet and Go Strategy

Greet and Go strategy is a good strategy that teachers can apply in learning reading process. This strategy will give advantages for students and help understand more about their lesson. According to Pearse (2011:143) the advantages of Greet and Go Strategy is a great strategy when the lesson loaded with vocabulary and helps students to make prediction about the text. a. Exploration

In this part, the teacher uses Frayer Model strategy that has some procedures.

1) Teacher assigns the concept or word from the text to be studied.

2) The teacher explains all of the attributes of the Frayer Model to be completed.

3) Model for students using the Frayer Model with an easy word or concept from a familiar text

4) Teacher asks students work in pairs and complete their model

3) After 5 minutes (or so), students return to their small group (if assigned) to make prediction about the content if the upcoming assigned text or lesson.

4) Call on each individual student to share their predictions and explain their reasoning.

5) Teacher and students discuss about the material

C. Confirmation

a. Teacher ask students about the material

b. The teacher ask the students to conclude about the material

3. Post-Teaching Activities

There are last activities that should be done by teacher in the classroom. In this activity, the teacher checks the students’ understanding about the lesson and then after discussing the teacher gives homework to the students.
