The main objective of the study was to know the correlation between listening comprehension and the English speaking proficiency of the eighth grade secondary school student in SMP N 3 Batanghari East Lampung. In this study, the researcher used quantitative research. The research was conducted in two meetings. The result of this study indicated that the relationship between listening skills and speaking of the student was good.
The result of this study indicated that listening ability is one of the internal factors which is important to understand by the students because the result of the data in this study indicated that there is a correlation between listening ability and speaking ability which has quite an impact on the learning process.

This phenomenon prompts the researcher to conduct a study entitled: 'The correlation between listening skills and the learners'. The first previous study was conducted by Nuket Gunduz, Deniz Ozcan & Hüseyin Uzun boylu from the University of Kyrenia and is titled “the influence of authentic material on student listening. In addition, the second previous study is conducted by Apin Hidayat titled "The Use Of Songs In Teaching Students' Listening Ability". The second prior research method is Classroom Action Research.

The Concept of Listening Ability
- The Concept of Listening

The importance of listening in language learning and listening comprehension problems experienced by language learners: A literature review,. Thomas, Succending with Engkish Language Learners (Thousand Oaks: .. up listening is the process of listening where the listeners assemble the message piece by piece through the speech stream, from the parts to the whole. In other words, listening up at the bottom is the process of listening that uses the incoming input as the basis for understanding message c. Types of listening.
Testing listening can be like understanding utterances, implying and sometimes making inferences from the spoken language.
The Concept of Speaking Performance
- The Concept of Speaking
 - Basic Type of Speaking
 - Problems in Speaking Performance
 - Assessment of Speaking

This kind of speaking performance is short answers to the question or comments initiated by the teacher or student. The purpose of this type of speaking performance is to deliver or exchange specific information. These types of speaking performance need creative teachers who always measure the speaking ability of his or her students through many types of techniques agreed upon by students and suitable for their level, be it beginner, intermediate or advanced.
Besides these kinds of speaking activities in the classroom, we need to consider the purpose of the activity when we talk about it, whether the activity is given to improve students' accuracy or to improve students' fluency. These problems can become obstacles for students to improve and improve their speaking skills. Other problems that can become a barrier for the students to become a good English speaker are the psychological problems.
Students have three main reasons for speaking in the classroom. First, speaking activities provide practice opportunities for students to practice speaking in real life in the safety of the classroom. Implications for teaching core issues to be addressed in planning speaking activities for an English class determine what kinds of speaking skills the class will focus on. Signs of fluency include a rapid rate of speech and only a small number of pauses and "ums" or "er."
Understanding is also one component of speaking. There are four components of speaking that the students must pay attention to if they want to speak well. Assessment of speaking is the activity undertaken to obtain the information about the speaking learning outcomes of the students at grade level during and after the teaching and learning activities and deviant. 30.
Theoretical Framework and Paradigm

 - Paradigm
 - Hypotheses

Has complete fluency in the language so that his speech is fully accepted by educated native speakers. In a very limited language, experience can understand simple questions and statements if conveyed with slow repetition or paraphrase. In this study there are two variables, the independent variable is listening skills and the dependent variable is speaking performance. Listening skill is an important factor influencing a language learning process.
The problem faced by listening students is difficulty in understanding the meaning. In other words, students lack vocabulary and often feel bored in learning activities. Based on the paradigm we can see that if the students have a good score it means that between the listening ability and speaking performance they have a positive and significant correlation, then if the students have a flat score it means that the listening ability and students' speaking performance. have a flat correlation and if students have a bad result, it means that there is no positive and significant correlation between students' listening ability and speaking performance.
Based on the above theoretical review, this research to answer the research problem that has been described, can hypothesize that the correlation between listening ability and speaking performance of English students in the eighth grade of secondary school in lower at SMP N 3Batanghari, the research takes the abbreviation. Alternative Hypothesis (Ha): There is a positive and significant correlation between students' listening ability on their speaking performance in SMP N 3 Batanghari. Null Hypothesis (Ho): There is a non-positive and significant correlation between students' listening ability in their speaking performance in SMP N 3 Batanghari.

The samples in this study are two classes, one as the experimental class and the other as the control class. So that every member of the population in this study has a chance to become a sample. Independent variables that are not related to the purpose of the study, but that can influence the dependent variable, are called external variables.35 Independent variable (X) in this study is listening comprehension.
This variable in this research is the students' speaking performance which is the students' ability to listen and understand words, sentence or phrase. The test will be used to measure the students' speaking performance after and before the listening ability treatment is given. The pre-test will be given to the students before a treatment is given to measure prior knowledge of student's listening ability.
After giving the treatment, the author would give the post test to the students to find out the result of the treatment. In this research, the author is the only participant observing the eighth graders in SMP N 3 Batanghari. Instrument calibration is the measurement scale that will be used to determine the instrument standard to be used.
The author will use content validity so that the instrument has a good quality and the instrument will be relevant to the focus of the research. In this investigation, the researcher analyzed the data by using simple statistical formula to compare the result of the pre-test and the post-test.

Data of pre-test listening ability among the eight graders at SMP N 3 Batanghari. After analyzing the students' weakness and understanding in listening, the author conducted the treatment to help the student understand the listening ability. Furthermore, after the student in this class have received the treatment and they have understood, the writer gave the post test to measure their listening ability.
After the writer collects the data through the test, documentation, observation, the writer analyzed the data using the post-test analysis to find out if there is a positive and significant correlation between the listening ability and the student's English speaking performance in the students of the eighth grade of junior high school at SMP N 3 Batanghari East Lampung. Table preparation to find out if there is a positive and significant correlation between listening ability and speaking performance of student in English in the eighth grade of junior high school in SMP N 3 Batanghari East Lampung. SMP N 3 Batanghari Grade Eight List of Pre-Test and Post-Test Listening Ability Scores.
From the above value, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant correlation between listening ability and student's speaking performance in English among junior high school eighth graders in SMP N 3 Batanghari East Lampung. This is evident from the student's pretest and posttest results. The writer formulated an alternative hypothesis (Ha) such as: "There is a positive and significant relationship between listening ability and students' speaking performance in eighth graders of SMP N 3 Batanghari East Lampung".
To investigate the correlation between listening ability and leading speaking performance, the researcher used the correlation product of moment. It showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between listening ability and speaking performance.

For the most part, the effective use of vocabulary for the task with some examples of inappropriateness. Some errors in the use of sentence structures and grammatical forms, but these do not interfere with understanding.
