The secondary source in this research is from journals, e-books, articles and documented data related to teaching and learning of English in IAIN METRO that are related to the research.

Data Collecting Technique

Observation is the process of gathering open-ended information first-hand by observing people and places at a research site.38 As a form of data collection, observation has both advantages and disadvantages. However, they differ from other conversations by having a specific structure and purpose.41 In this research, the researcher will use interview to get data about the student's difficulties with non-verbal behavior in speech performance by IAIN Metro.

The author will apply the Miles and Huberman model to analyze the data.42 The components of this analysis model are depicted by this figure. Therefore, it is concluded that the analysis of data has some functions in the analysis of research data which include in; to make the meaningful raw data, to make observation null hypothesis, to get the meaningful results, to describe inferences or to make generalization, and to calculate parameters.

Research Approach

If the research problem covers a broad topic of concern, the writer must focus on it in order to study it. To get these answers, the writer undertakes the step of gathering or collecting data. During or immediately after data collection, the writer must understand the information provided by the individuals in the study.

Analysis consists of "breaking apart the data" to determine individual responses and then "assembling" them to summarize them. After the research is done, the author will develop a written report and distribute it to select audiences (such as fellow teachers, administrators, parents, students) who can use the information.
