Judul Skripsi: The effect of playing drama in teaching Talked about eighth grade at Smp N 18 Makassar. Alhamdulillah, thank Almighty God for all the mercy and bountiful gifts so that the author can complete the preparation of the dissertation under the title “The effect of playing drama in teaching grade eight at SMPN 18 Makassar”.

Background

The researcher also found some previous studies that have been done in the use of playing drama in speaking teaching. While the researcher in this research will investigate the use of playing drama in teaching speaking in Smp 18 Makassar. So the students to improve speaking skills and investigate the effect of playing drama in improving speaking at SMPN 18 Makassar.

Problem Statement

Teaching using interactive dramatic play is attractive and suitable for junior high school students as a medium in teaching speaking. Based on the above background, the researcher will conduct an experimental research titled.

On the other hand, we can say that speaking is learning how to speak, and it is so difficult better than knowing what other people say. Boonkit (2010) argues that speaking is one of the important skills to learn English, if the speaker is not a native English speaker. The unique feature of intensive speaking is that it is usually more interpersonal than transactional.

Conceptual Framework

From the above conceptual framework, the researcher would use a quasi-experiment, using two classes: the experiment class and the control class. During the trial lesson, speaking skills were measured during the Pretest (Talking Holiday). After the pretest, the treatment was given. After the treatment was given, the researcher conducted the post-test to conduct the treatment to know the speaking ability of the students.

To know students' speaking ability, the researcher gave the pre-test to the students. The researcher asked the students to make a drama script on random topic and explained the students how to show and how to apply it. The researcher gave them a post-test that talked about the same topic as in the pre-test, but in this meeting the students spoke based on their play drama.

The researcher asked the students to talk about their favorite actor in front of the class. The researcher gave the students a post-test to measure their speaking ability and compared the results with the experimental class. It can be concluded that most of the students'. speaking ability in the experimental group before treatment is scored well, which is explained by the fact that most of the students in the experimental group are able to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations.

In pre-test, students as the respondents were asked to describe their favorite actor one by one in front of the class. It can be concluded that most of the students are able to use language fluently and accurately at all levels normally relevant to professional needs after receiving the treatment. Discussion

The researcher asked the students to tell their favorite actor one by one in front of the class. In this meeting, the researcher explains to the students about descriptive text and its generic structure, purpose and example. The researcher then showed the students about the generic structure and linguistic features of the example.

And also the researcher directed the students to focus on the linguistic features that contain the descriptive text and showed his example in it. The researcher gave the students homework to write a descriptive text about their vacation and then he will explain the result in front of the class. In this meeting, the researcher asks the students to explain to the class one by one the descriptive text they composed in the last meeting.

In the first meeting in the experimental class, the researchers gave the students a pre-test, the researcher asked the students to talk about acting out a drama. In the second session, the researchers divided the students into groups and the researcher asked them to make a drama script on a random topic and explain to the students how to perform it and how to use it. And in the last session, the researcher conducted a post-test to talk about the same topic in the pre-test, but in this session, the students spoke based on their drama play.

It can be concluded that most students are able to use language fluently and accurately at all levels normally associated with vocational needs after treatment. (The result of the post-test in the experiment class can be seen in the appendix).

Suggestion

Based on the scores of students whose scores in the experimental class were higher than those of the control class (posttest mean in the control class: 64.81, mean of the experimental class posttest: 66.25). Furthermore, the increase in students' speaking ability is shown in the t-test calculation where Ha is accepted (the effect of playing drama can improve students' speaking ability). The same steps were used to identify the mean score for the experiment class post-test. First, the range (R) of the score, the highest post-test score was 90 and the lowest score was 45.

After following the steps to calculate the post-test average score of the control class and the experiment class, the result for those calculations was 64.81 and 66.25.

Dengan bimbingan dan arahan guru, siswa mengajukan pertanyaan tentang fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan setiap teks drama. Bersama-sama, siswa mencari dan mengumpulkan permainan sederhana dari berbagai sumber, termasuk internet, koran, majalah, buku pelajaran, dan lain-lain. Siswa membaca sumber dari berbagai sumber, termasuk buku teks, untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan teks drama.

Siswa membandingkan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan berbagai teks drama yang dikumpulkan dari berbagai sumber tersebut di atas. Siswa membandingkan fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan dari berbagai teks drama yang dikumpulkan dan berbagai sumber yang disebutkan di atas. Siswa secara kolaboratif mencari dan mengumpulkan lakon sederhana dari berbagai sumber, antara lain dari Internet, surat kabar, majalah, buku teks, dan lain-lain.

Siswa mentransfer sebagian lakon yang telah dibacanya kepada temannya dengan cara membaca, bertanya dan mendiskusikan pandangan masing-masing terhadap isi lakon.
